Domination Magic is the LEAST crap part of Shadowlands. It simply put into words the underlying foundation if every facet of every interaction with Sylvanas’ ever… The loss of agency.
And that’s the core of what I was trying to explain about Helya. In Stormheim, Helya is not the “bad guy” but rather a morally gray antagonist. With a deeper and obscured backstory. And, like everything related to Sylvanas, her story explores themes of domination and loss of agency. This is where we start to get into another episode of “Maybe the titans are not the good guys” and “what was Odyn originally trading his eye for at the evolutionary point the story was in, during the Stormheim narrative.”. Since it is so closely tied to Sylvanas and we see clear SL design elements in things like the Lantern, I would wager it is shadow magic related to domination. “Domination Magic” if you will.
The ret con is that he traded his eye for a peek at the Shadowlands and saw the US Navy Blue Angels which inspired him to make Valkyr.
Her character isn’t one that can be redeemed.
Sure it is. Any character can be redeemed. She deserves it after the character assassination she went through

There was no character assassination - her character’s story arc and life has been massively inflated and extended already. Her natural story arc literally ended when she committed suicide off of Icecrown at Arthas’s defeat.
Everything after that was completely bonkers and useless. Shes been a scheming villain ever since then even Garrosh knew that in Silverpine questing during Cata.

This is genuinely the best way to describe the whole Alliance vs Horde bias argument.
Blizzard likes to write Horde stories and make them the focus as a faction, but they like specific individual Alliance characters who they want to focus on… which leaves players in both sides unhappy.

Imagine using Garrosh as example for being good. Sylvanas was never a villain. Her arc was butchered by a writer who hated her.
no one cares about the faction war. The big story was always the real story and that plot is dominated by alliance heroes.
Garrosh is literally Arthas 2.0. Somebody doesn’t read the books or extended lore I guess.
No one ruined her - her character had no purpose after her suicide and the writers “resurrected her” for no reason. An aimless and point less character beginning in Cata pre patch
Protecting the Forsaken from true death and suffering in the afterlife. That was her purpose. And she would have won it if Genn hadn’t stopped her selfless plans.
Didn’t say she was right. I think she was pretty delusional about it all. (Or maybe the jailer was influencing her.). But the book makes her motivations clear. She even thought see could convince Anduin to come to her side.
Her motivations were clear, “I will free us all.”
I don’t think I agree. Keep her offstage long enough and handle her reappearance right, and the damage of BfA could be mitigated, especially with the meta-knowledge that she was likely intentionally trashed with malicious intent. It’s a lot of “ifs,” but I’m not sorry they’re trying.
But her being in the Maw is part of what you object to, isn’t it? It’s part of the “redemption” the writers are giving her.
I think the impasse is that Sylvanas not being immediately killed is contingent on her being a different, “reformed” character—which isn’t the character people like or want.

as long as she isn’t fully dead we can work with it. I take it no matter the cost.

I’ve never agreed with this criticism of Sylvanas’s story. She missed out on her vengeance and killed herself because her hollow purpose was ended; that Edge of Night gave her something else to live and fight for was good.

Sylvanas is her true self again. And that person was loyal to Silvermoon not the alliance.
