The early development was a rogue group of Forsaken held the city before community feedback avoided attacking Forsaken characters and replaced it all with Scarlet Crusade.

“Everything you know is wrong” is the single worst story telling trope there is.
Which is why WoW’s writers keep going back to said trope again and again and again.

The Scarlet Crusade only ever had two things that players cared about and they’re currently pressed against the sides of an undead horse. I don’t Blizzard or anyone cares enough to bring them back.

i doubt it, the scarlets were seen VERY recently as once again the bad guys, not only for the forsaken heritage but also in the reclaiming of gilneas. if anything they’ll either be dead for good, or side lined for blizz to deal with later like the OTHER faction of evil light zealots in AU draenor

Redemption implies they were ever in the wrong to begin with.
The Forsaken have proven time and time again that they are in fact the mindless monsters the Scarlet Crusade thinks they are.

I don’t usually play forsaken but at no point have I looked at them and gone, man I hope those walking dead are the good guys. Feels wrong, sort of like seeing a death knight basically rp as a paladin y’know?

The Crusade’s continued existence is basically a retcon at this point anyway so they’re probably going to stick around forever.

honestly yeah i could see this happening with how they’ve whitewashed more or less anything related to player characters, they whitewashed the zandalari, dark irons, the nerubians, and pretty soon i can imagine they will whitewash the naga next

They did nothing wrong the forsaken turned out to be gigaevil. They opened a portal to hell.
