I want to play–I really do–this was the only xpac i missed the majority of b/c I had a career change and wasn’t able to raid at all.

That depends. If you’re only worried about rep gear, that becomes available at honored now instead of revered. On top of that, you don’t need to reach revered with the Golden Lotus in order to begin the Shado-Pan and August Celestials anymore either

Dont think mop raid that exciting, mop is known for it pvp. The last raid siege of origimar is real beginning of retail raids
T14 is generally regarded as one of the best opening tiers of an expansion, and Throne of Thunder is often regarded as one of the best raids in the entire game

i’m specifically playing to do challenge modes. I really want that gear.
There will be advantages to run dailies, pvp (conquest gear can be great early on and honor gear good to be able to get into the queue for heroic dungeons) and there’s even some epic weapons that drop at 0.5% from dungeons. Will it be daily hell? Depends how much you want the gear but early on generally there will only be 2 reputations you want to focus on that will change depending of your spec.

Moving down to honored will help immensely…still think I’m hearing “yes” but with some caveats
I distinctly remember a “panda excess” joke image referring to how it was dumb that EVERYYTHING was locked behind a huge rep grind once you hit 90–which made it way too grindy for a LOT of people.
Honestly it depends on how much questing you do while leveling. Several of the factions have leveling quests that award rep that will by themselves get you close to, if not already at, honored by the time you finish them. Not having to grind Golden Lotus first before even gaining access to two more important reps will also be a massive ease on the feeling of the long daily grind. we might also be getting the reputation championing thing? I can’t recall specifically if that was mentioned anywhere, but with other later features we know are being added early, it wouldn’t surprise me. Might only be one dungeon a day, but 1000 rep a day adds up
We are also getting the rep bonus for alts early after reaching revered as well, so that’ll be super nice for prepping alts too
As far as I know only Klaxxi and Shado-pan have a decent amount of reputation you can get while leveling.
If I recall correctly the Order of the Cloud Serpents have a few? Though they’re less relevant since they don’t have any gear. Maybe the Tillers too? I can’t quite recall if any quests in that area give Tillers rep besides the ones tied directly to unlocking the farm
I don’t think you want to do cloud serpent rep before getting flying and yes you can get some rep for the farm while you’re capped pretty hard until 90.
