Will running AHK get me banned?

so the problem is with the keybinds in game?

No on the face of it (except using AHK to do it is a bad idea) but you can do that with the in-game keymapping. Much safer right? Same with using your mouse software. You can re-map buttons and have it save with the mouse software.

Risking an account suspension or closure is not worth it for key mapping.

I’m not using it for stuff in game. Ctrl and Alt still work on reload, but the other keybinds on my mouse aren’t being recognized until I delete and add them back. I can spam the keys for days and nothing registers until I clear the keybind, press accept and close the window, then open the window back up and assign the keybind back to the batch file.

It’s a headache. That’s why I wanted to switch to AHK so the profile would be saved.

I guess I could always just make a script that reassigns all my keybinds when Windows loads. I won’t have to keep AHK on so there shouldn’t be any problems with the game.

You know what else sends keys to wow? A keyboard. HOLY CRAP, Blizzard is coming for your keyboards people!

People are funny. Blizzard aren’t out there to ruin your day. Banning AHK is absolutely not automated or many more people would be banned, which means people who got banned did something to trigger it more than just having ahk running or rebinding keystrokes.

That’s my logic. If it’s a 1 = 1 remap, then who cares?

hm try update your mouse firmware + the app for keybinds and if can open the app as an administrator

They should be up to date but I’ll try running it only as admin.

This was never a thing, given that the maximum raid size is 40. Perhaps you’re thinking about your buddies at Ruin Gaming, the experts at exploits.

aslo check the mouse app if your profile is saving in the pc or mouse internal memory( if have, maybe is damaged), and check if your mouse app have the permission for modify the folder where the profile is saved. sorry for my bad english hehe

Prepared was an 80 boxer and he at one point boxed 120 toons. Prepared the multiboxer. Lots of YT vids of him boxing 80+ accounts.

You can do more than 40

Multiple raids. Some are now set to be able to broadcast to 500 accounts all at the same time.

And he actually multiboxed against Ruin Gaming. He would always go out of his way to wipe them when they came around.

It could get you banned, yes.

A lot of people I game with have been using it for years to rebind keys. I really don’t think Blizzard is banning for something simple like that, but if you planned on running a bot script…

They will probably frown upon any sort of software that allows you to create macros to trigger of a string of skills/abilities, regardless of how it is being done.

I actually opened a support ticket for this exact question and got back a pretty vague answer. I’ve had AHK around for audio/visual switches for different monitor settings - and I was having an issue with the joystick on my gamepad. The solution I came up with was to use use an AHK script that mapped the X-Y joystick positions into WASD-QE button presses.

I even dug up my old ticket in the support system. Here is what I asked and what I got:

This is more of a general question about peripheral software and devices and policy. I’m having trouble with a device I use to navigate my character. It has a thumb joystick that is causing a bit of character drift. In order to fix this, I was considering creating a script in AutoIT or AutoHotkey to convert 2-axis joystick inputs into analog WASDQE inputs to move my character. It would be a totally 1:1 conversion script. I push right on the thumbpad it presses “E” to strafe right. I release, it stops. Press forward, it pressed W. Etc.

However I am nervous about causing “false positive” results flags for script/bot detection, and getting my account suspended.

When searching for this, I have read the “Anti Cheating Agreement” from 2016. Which my script clearly wouldn’t violate. But I have also read plenty of “horror stories” from other users who say that even booting up Auto Hotkey while playing wow will action your account. Is there any official guidelines on this?

The response:

I’m afraid as mentioned on the support site, Customer Support cannot confirm if any particular program is allowed. https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/000013078 - Your best bet when checking how to set up a script or key replacement like you had mentioned would be to ask around on the UI and macro forums for how others have done so, since the players and addon developers there are familiar with many methods of how to change the game and controls in ways that are allowed in game. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/c/guides/ui-macro

So there you have it, a non answer. I did use the AHK script to remap things while playing WOW for a while before I swapped out my hardware. Anecdotally, I never had a problem or actions taken on my account. But this was a few years ago. I suspect that people claiming to be “banned for just run audio AHK” aren’t telling the full truth.

I dont like them. And they dont multibox. Here is a video of a multiboxer vs Ruin Gaming.

He got banned many years ago. There are basically no large multiboxers due to changes that make it impossible to use multiboxing software or hardware.

That video is 4 years old. The reason you didn’t find a more recent one is that it’s not possible to do anymore without risking all of your accounts. Which actually happened to some guy who thought he could keep doing what he was doing.

8 is the most you can do on one bnet. Most multiboxers now max at 5, because that is party size.

I have 5 accounts and I multibox according to the rules. Anybody who multiboxes is regularly reported. Warden is part of WoW. If you get reported they scan your computer when you are logged in and see if you are using multiboxing software. If you are you get banned on all your accounts.

I’ve been told many times that I was reported. I never heard anything from Blizzard, because it’s so easy for them to check and I don’t use multiboxing software or hardware.

just send in a ticket and ask staff directly tbh

They will not provide a yes or no answer. They will point at the Support articles and EULA then tell you that you need to evaluate any third party software yourself to ensure it meets those rules. Choice to use anything with WoW is done at your own risk.

Here is an example of a person asking this question on the Customer Support Forum in August.

I quit doing it cuz it wasnt as fun. I like to become emotionally attached to my toons. That is really difficult when there are almost 50 of them. And that is different from having multiple alts. When you multibox you dont feel that attachment to your toons. My fav MB set was my set of 4 shamans that I used to do arenas with.

Pwnboxer site now has a virus on it and the maker of the site doesnt even know how to remove it unless that has changed since last I checked.

I have AHK installed on all my computers because I use it for work (and occasionally I do work on my personal computer). Never occurred to me to use it for WoW but then again, I don’t multibox.
