Will running AHK get me banned?

I’m using my mouse’s software to change the button functions for ingame and out of game processes but if I reset my pc, my mouse will forget all of the buttons assigned to it. I have to delete and rebind them every time, it’s annoying. I want to use AHK instead but I’ve read forum posts about people being banned for using AHK. Does anyone here use AHK (that isn’t cheating) and hasn’t been banned for it?

Yes , auto hotkey is bannable

Wouldn’t my mouse’s software to change keybinds be just as bannable?

Nah AHK can be used to make delaykeys and toggle loop keys, so with a very good script writer you pretty much just need to press one button to never mess up your rotation . Thats why its bannable

I could make some pretty borderline tasks with my mouse’s macros.

AFAIK as long as 1 button press = 1 action its fine. Using AHK with say… gnome sequencer addon to make it spam 1 key multiple times = bannable.

No, it isn’t.

Don’t be daft.

It can be used in ways that are bannable. It’s not bannable in and of itself.

I have ahk scripts running permanatly on my PC, and have done for over a decade. It’s by far the simplest way to rebind keys that don’t work or work badly in games (for example, I use it to rebind numpad enter and NumLock for wow only).

Quite a few people have claimed on the CS forums that yes, they have been banned for having it.

At this point, I would NOT use it or even have it on the PC when running WoW.

Yes. One key press/button press = one in-game action.

Using any hardware or software to get around that can result in a ban, including mouse and keyboard software.

If someone can’t do it with the in-game macro maker, don’t try it with external software.

What about my mouse’s system? I posted screenshots but I can’t post them directly to the forums.

I addressed that. Please read my post again.

Sadly AHK has some really good legit uses and we will never know exactly why those people who got banned, got banned. I would wager they were using it with GSE addon to spam macros. But I firmly believe simply having the software wouldn’t incur such action. Then again, I’ve been wrong before so idk.

If it’s being used for out of game file management, then it shouldn’t matter.

People lie.

Doesn’t matter who made the software that allows it to do what it does. Just because logtitech or some other major company makes a software that allows you to do what AHK does doesn’t mean its not just as bannable if used the wrong way.

Then I think I’ll be safe using AHK. I’ve used this mouse and its macro abilities for 6 years. Since I haven’t abused it in game, I doubt I’ll be banned for using it the way I use it.

At this point I would not take the risk. Blues won’t confirm or deny anything either. They won’t approve third party software and don’t go into exactly what the Hacks team detects or actions for.

I would not take the risk. Warden seems to work somewhat like antivirus software. It has definitions it looks for. They won’t tell you what. Quite a few people have claimed to be banned for running it and WoW.

Yes, but it was the CS forums and Blues did not correct it. AHK does automate software presses. Blizz is very much against automation.

Anything that can help multibox is now against the rules and with that they seem to have cracked down on AHK.

That is a risk I would NOT take.

Each to their own though.

I HIGHLY doubt they’ll ban me for remapping 2 keys to ctrl and alt.

what is your mouse? maybe you miss click the “save profile” button

Not bannable out right, but you can easily do stuff with them that can cause a ban. Some MMOs ban them outright. WoW allows them. Just like they used to allow multiboxing. But that was removed because people abused it. Boxing 80+ toons and spawn camping a zone for 3 straight hours day after day caused Blizz to simply get rid of boxing for everyone. So as that was banned, so too can this be banned if it is abused. As of right now it is allowed. And it really doesnt take that many people to abuse it in order for it to become banned.

The profile is saved, nothing changes inside of the mouse settings, but I have to reassign the keybinds to my batch file shortcuts on boot up.
