To my knowledge you can earn items called Enchanted Aspect’s Shadowflame Crest from a combination of high-end PvE + Enchanting. This will upgrade crafted gear up to ilvl 447. Almost as good as Conquest.
What is the timeframe for earning these items? (Update: Apparently you can get 10 a week?)
If these crests can be earned in week one (update: they can’t? Need two sparks?), this will force PvPers into early season shenanigans to push rating. (Buying tokens for gold/crafting reagents, spamming M16 for Aspect Crests, etc.)
The PvP trophies can’t be used on weapons and conquest/trophies of strife are time gated. Making crafted gear BIS and readily available early on if you farm PvE and shell out hundreds of thousands of gold.
Especially for items like https://www.wowhead.com/spell=408283/shadowed-razing-annihilator
Which might be BIS despite a PvP modifier.
(Side note, why does the new crafted mace have same appearance as 2400 S1 elite?)

One piece every two weeks. They are still gated by sparks, it’s not like you can make a full set day one by grinding.

So, you are saying you need to either use a PvP trophy or PvE Crest to make an item every 2 weeks?
The only issue I see here is PvP trophies can’t make weapons.
So as melee it’s actually better for me to farm a 447 crafted weapon from PvE with my Shadowflame, cuz I can’t get Conquest or Scalewarden weapon upgrades for another 3 weeks.

You won’t, even if you saved your spark for it you won’t be able to get aspect crests until the following week.
There is less of a timegate on the 441 upgrades, you can turn regular noncrafted gear from mythic raid or higher M+ into 441 pieces with the 10 crests you can get a week. But the 447 stuff is timegated by sparks since they are crafted pieces.

Run M16 for 4 Aspect’s Shadowflame Crest, get enchanter to turn it into the Enchanted Aspect’s Shadowflame Crest.
Unless you can’t get Aspect Crests week 1 of the season, but I thought you could.
Hmm yeah, I reread that part in their blog post and I read it wrong the first time. You should be able to craft something if you have a spark saved, but you won’t be able to get another spark next week yet if you already crafted a 450 piece.
Blizzard should just let us use Trophies on Weapons, so people don’t get a huge advantage by doing PvE and dumping hundreds of thousands of gold on Mats.
Then introduce a Scrap mechanic for people who already spent their Shadowflame so they can get it back.
Tbh, crafter gear is just making pvp overly complicated. Like the precog thing, the mandantory reagent is 20k on AH rn. S1 was a blast of simplicity and they just mess up on s2 puting more layers for gear and farm on pvp gearing.

If you are worried about 447 pve weapons giving pvers an advantage just do the trophies of strife quest for two weeks. That is 16 trophies and it costs 14 trophies for a 447 two hander or two 447 one handers.
The thing is Trophies takes 2 weeks to do the M16+ Crests can be gotten next week.
So if you farm Enchanted Aspects Crest, you can be a Week 1 Arms/Ret with 447 weapon. That’s gonna ruin the week.
Sounds like an inefficient use of resources for a small temporary advantage during a period that doesn’t matter.

(( And BTW the Shadowed Razing Annihilator 447 version might still be BIS over conquest weapon.
Even if not, having 447 weapon is a huge advantage for the first week. It’s not a set back either as you can then use Sparks/Trophies/Conquest on non-weapon pieces as the season goes on.)
I play way too much stuff to try to minmax week 1-2 advantages on a single char.

its not as huge of an advantage as you think. its a 13 ilvl upgrade from blue wpvp. 10 from honor. Even right now having wpvp over 424 conquest is barely noticeable. Especially since u can get ur scalebreaker weapon week 3 or whatever it is for free or luckily from vault while just buying conquest normally. We also got 2 free trophies. 1 for a 450 this week. One 2 weeks from now when we get another spark. By week 3 most people will have a vault. 2 crafted. 1 or 2 buys maybe or maybe not scalebreaker weapon cant rem. Or just 2 other pieces. This is gonna be an incredibly fast geared season wotn matter much

Bloody tooken wep will upgrade to 447 and you can get that week 2 at latest.
Well it is relevant and matters.
Did the start of 10.7 “not” matter because we expected Ret would be fixed in a week?
We pay for a month at a time, each week matters.
