Will classic TBC kill retail?

no, it was fun to do the dark portal for nostalgia.

the money was nothing…

It doesn’t have better gameplay lol, it also doesn’t have better content, it also will die in about 2 months for the most part aside from raiding guilds and arena players, and the pixels are awful.

It’s more likely that FF14 takes players away during retail down time, than for players to continue playing TBC after the 9.1 content gets stale.

TBC and FFXIV will kill retail. 9.1 will prove that, just watch.

TBC classic tastes a little bit less like poop in your mouth compared to poop lands

Maybe not.

TBC is only temporary until people get bored and wait for 9.2 at this point. And if 9.2 sucks they’ll release Wrath classic which will kill TBC like it did to vanilla Classic.

are we here to pretend like gruul’s lair is the apex of gaming and literally no one will come back in 9.1 for retail because of such.

lololol good lord the classic andys are digging extra deep today

TBC Classic is currently the new/old cake most everyone wants a slice it will do well no doubt over retail for sometime. Granted after all the raids are out and done many times folks will slowly disappear servers will be ghost towns and folks will be standing in line waiting for the Wrath Classic.

That’s exactly what will happen. By the end of the last raid the servers will become ghost towns and the process will repeat itself when wotlk classic releases. The only drama will be wondering what happens next. Will blizz continue with cata classic or go classic plus?

To answer the op question, not a chance. Classic and retail have some crossover, but not as much as you think.

I really wish Blizzard would release the numbers. Sad that they don’t anymore after WoD. I’ve already played TBC and won’t come back to replay things I’ve already played. It sounds like a nice nostalgia adventure but I just have no desire to play.

imo, retail is worse than classic for sure.

I think Classic and TBC have saved the future of the World of Warcraft …

Classic wow and classic bc brought up alot of things, nostalgia being one of them. I miss 3 things about the first 3 clients of wow. I miss the old 1-60 overworld. I miss the framework of the first 3 versions, particularly the class design, and the overall leveling and progression process.

While i do not find the story in retail wow to be terrible, i think it is pretty awesome actually, but it was nice to see what blizzard initially had in mind, especially for classic wow. But it would be nice to merge all the things i mentioned from classic wow in this comment, and somehow combine them into the retail game in some form.

Before classic wow was a thing, there was talk about pristine realms for retail wow. Beyond the nostalgia of the classic versions of wow, retail wow lacks alot of the old framework that made up the old expansions. People talk about classic pandaria, or classic cataclysm, which i am not opposed to, but we have the nostalgia selling those versions. Pristine versions of the modern games could be pretty sweet. Like being able to level in the old overworld for example as an option to the revamped overworld. Having limited ways of gaining experience. No heirlooms. Etc. I feel pristine classic versions of retail would be so cool.

I feel blizzard should take notes of classic versions of wow, and maybe incorporate them into the modern game in some form. The classic versions of wow are old experiences, which isn’t inherently a bad thing. But it would be nice to have a version of retail wow that functioned more closely to the classic versions of the game. Shadowlands has done a great job in my op, and i particularly like how the classes play.

I love TBCC
