Will Cataclysm be Dead on Arrival?

I don’t think enough people will quit to make blizzard care. But we will be unhappy lol.

100% will move since we don’t have Era wrath…

People will just jump into sod where classes are like wrath classes.

I believe that if one likes Wrath for it’s gameplay, they will also like Cataclysm.

not only 90% of your toolkit is the same, but the entire gameplay feels less clunky. I’m telling you, all rotations feel smoother. I really am not a big fan of Feral in Wrath, but Feral in Cata feels good! Just the flow is so much better.

Yeah, sure, some don’t like the revamp. Some do. It comes down to personal choice. I, personally, love modern zones. I think questing experience got improved and following zone lore is a lot easier that way, as you’re not hopping 4 zones for every level.

Then you have Transmog. It enhances the RPG element, as now your visual appearance is not a dressed up clown, but now you can actually play what you like. There is a reason why RP is really big on Retail.

Classic community are huge min maxers. Insane min maxers. Even troll clam weaving bait was eaten by tons of people. So with Reforging, you get to fill in that niche with less headache.

ICC really is the first “retail-like” raid. And if you like ICC, you will like Cataclysm raiding too.

Every raid has some bosses that are not fun. I hated half of the Ulduar encounters. And there are some ICC fights i’m not a fan of.

Even Dragon Soul, half the fights are actually good. Sure, Spine is not as EPIC as it should have been, and it’s a big let down. But it doesn’t destroy the entire tier.

Hmm… huge chunks of the gameplay change. Healing for example has a huge paradigm shift. The gameplay outside of pure class mechanics also has a massive change.

Yes the first two tiers of Cata are good. But DS is one of the worst raids ever made and it can’t be given a pass like ToC since it’s the last tier and should have been the most iconic. I mean they couldn’t even be bothered to make a new zone for the first half and just reused Dragonblight then the last two fights are add fights…

Wasn’t a Fan of Cata, Not a Fan of Retail, Not sure what I’ll do

For the many years that I’ve been on wow, I’ve not unsubbed or not paid for my services, But I have allowed my service laps a few times due to the economy. However, IF Cata isn’t rebooted as I remember it… this could be the first time I’ll actually stop paying for the service. I think I could handle the waylaid crates and even rune search within the reboot… but If I start to see woke/snowflake/Foo foo within the game… I’m gone.

Me too. If they change a single painting on a wall in some building that I never once looked at even while going through that building hundreds of times and I never would have once looked at after it was changed and only know about it because some obsessive compulsive person somehow in a statistical anomaly discovered it and ranted about it on the internet… I’m gone. Because I’m not a snowflake obsessing about trivial things.

Reality and I’m not trying to step on anyone toes, but anyone with half a brain can see what’s happen to the retail version of wow. I want Cata so bad I can taste it… but will it leave a bad taste which is what I’m concerned with. Reboot it as it was back in 2010. But again, I’m willing to allow the Transmog and few small things that came with Cata as that was and has always been a part of my game. Leave classic as is… but allow Cata to be what it was back in the day.

The Blizzard that made the old game is dead. And Modern Blizzard will absolutely put their stamp of incompetence on the expansion.

And ignore the silly posters who try to downplay the idiotic changes Blizz made to the game. Remember when that woman at Blizz killed herself over harassment from higher ups? Don’t worry about that… Instead focus on that painting of fruit. That’s what really matters and shows how progressive Blizz is and how much they care!

It’s just a smokescreen to distract from the actual things that matter.

Thanks for the like on my post. It’s gratifying to see a positive proof of Poe’s Law in action.

Hopefully the devs fix the issues that turned so many players away from cata the first time. Dungeon tuning is going to be a big one.

As a ranged dps enjoyer. Every single fight in ICC turned into almost 0 mechanic plant and cast by the time the raid was 6000-6100+ gs aside from HLK. Even then most of the movement is just in transitions and its just a long personal responsibility fight. 5% buff amplified this and by the time we get 30% buff it really is going to be reskinned naxx.

PP is like a side step and instant cast weave occasionally for malleable goo. Aside from HLK there are literally 0 moments where im not casting on a single fight. H sindragosa might have slight downtime at 6-7 stacks waiting to blow up - again if you arent in a boomer group that forces you to stack and not cast for unchained magic because of all of that 0 healing needed before the final phase…

For every fight if you position well they are all essentially reskinned training dummy fights. Its a fun raid i like it. But its not really anything like retail. Individually the “mechanics” are single global hiccups.

Boomer strats that over exagerate handling
mechanics generally overcomplicate the fights and maybe make them feel more difficult than they are.

One fringe fights to make a trivia change. You and your fringe fights to stop it. The vast majority don’t pay attention to either of you. You’re actually the bigger snowflake since you claim you’ll quit if they get their trivial change. They won’t actually quit if they don’t get their trivial change. We’ll just continue laughing at both of your obsessions with trivia.

I was under the impression that you liked my comments, But you’re nothing more than a snake in the grass.

Not as dead as I originally thought

95% of what killed Cata is Ghostcrawler and the unwise Git gud post and ultra hard dungeons that was way ahead of where player skill was at the moment.

I actually dont think they need to, as the Cata seasons progress, the dungeons will get nerfed, and unlike Cata release, players who cant do ultra hard dungeons and raids, can just go play live or classic/SOD instead.

Back during release there was no place to go but out to another game, this is no longer the case.

But I was absolutely clear from the beginning. When you were too blind to understand I gave you a hint, Poe’s Law. If you didn’t know what Poe’s Law was you should have looked it up, or admitted your lack of education and that you’re unwilling to educate yourself and dropped out of the conversation. When people start talking about football I don’t engage, I know when I’m out of my depth. You should learn that too or become willing to educate yourself.

The bad stuff of cata seems to be:

Sparse content patches. Starts strong, you get a patch that is just two remade dungeons. Firelands. then Dragon Soul was very uninspired with reused areas and mobs. Deathwing himself was a huge dissapointment.

And the sit in the city Queue simulator

A lot of the Old world zone changes were really corny, Ect The C.S.I in westfall.

Kalimdor needed that change admittedly, but a lot of the old zones lost their flare and felt smaller, especially with flying.

Example, Look at a modern Cata Silverpine forest, Trees are small and the zone is less ominous, Where you look at pre cata and the trees are towering and the zone is dark and gloomy.

The game lost a lot of it’s fantasy aspect IMO, Season of Discovery is offering the old world with new content as seen on the roadmap, and I think most people are going to be far more interested in something new rather than what has a poor reputation.

Cata was bad, but most of that was some really bad decisions and I dont think its quite as dead as you think it is.

Also MOP is often considered one of the best expansions they ever made and there is no chance they wont progress to MOP after Cata.
