Will arena boosting finally be gone in DF?

we all know boosting was a massive problem in shadowlands and totally out of control because of the pvp gearing system. My question is now that we will have gear equalization will boosting still be as bad at low ratings (2200 and below) like it was in Shadowlands or is it finally gone from the game? thanks…

You shouldn’t have any trouble finding somebody to help you out if that’s what’s being asked.

why would it be gone

it existed in every season since tbc arena launched

people want thinks like mogs/illusions/glad mounts. nobody actually cares about gear.

I recall win/cap/conquest carries being fairly common during mop and wod.

you must not have played in shadowlands if you think that lol.

Be merciful, hatfox. :dracthyr_nervous_animated:

Would you mind expanding on this?

Boosting will never really be gone. So long as there are prizes (titles, mounts, xmog, etc.) locked behind rating, people are going to want boosts to get them.

Another thing to consider is their “New” upgrade system. PVP gear is going to have rating gated PVE iLvl upgrades - and, for some reason, they’ve decided that PVP iLvl scaling won’t work in WM (we PVP players never quite get what we ask for, you see - there’s always a catch). Unfortunately, people who like to WPVP - some of the most casual PVP in the game, mind you - might have to put up with more stupid rating gates just to play the part of the game that they enjoy; that, or they’ll be forced into PVE just so they can PVP (again). So, yeah… boosting is lookin’ healthy heading into DF. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

There will ALWAYS be boosting, it’ll just be less common and they’ll probably charge more because it’ll make the booster’s boosting life more difficult when they can’t just come in with a 25 ilvl advantage and 2 shot rando 1600s.

booty boosting

I’ve never understood all the complaining about boosters… they lose at least as many games as they win, thats why they’re not trying to boost at 3k.

They almost always have the same rehashed strat, if you know the strat you can counter the strat…

My only complaint about boosting was that you’d have someone fully geared vs people who were still trying to gear up.

That shouldn’t be a problem in DF.

I’ve lost so many games to players that definitely didn’t deserve the gear they had on and it’s really frustrating to lose because someone has 2 tiers worth of item level on you. :joy:

I swear all the boosting for gear died after s1, after that it was only for cosmetics.

It doesn’t scale from just having War Mode on, but it does scale when pvp combat is initiated. That applies to both faction combat and duels. This hasn’t changed as of a few days ago.

Is this still a thing? I really hope it stays that way, but the wording in their posts is incredibly sus.

they’ve decided that PVP iLvl scaling won’t work in WM…

I know there’s gear obtained from WPvP. If this post is accurate, there’s a set that’s almost the same level as conquest gear.

Yes, the wording of their post is horrible. But, that is the way it is working as of a few days ago. Could they change it the weekend before DF goes live? Yeah, they have a track record of doing such things.

That graphic is accurate. The world pvp gear is three item levels lower than it’s instanced pvp counterparts, but comes with a set bonus (the four piece bonus gives a dmg absorb shield when stunned, for example). I’m guessing the instanced pvp conquest gear can be converted into the pve tier set eventually, like you can in SL.

You also get bloody tokens from killing players in world pvp. I got one when a monk attacked my rogue on the beta server. Item cost is in the hundreds of tokens though. PvP world quests give around 50 or so iirc.

I’m guessing that a lot of instanced pvp players might want to get four pieces of the world pvp gear for the bonus, even if it is slightly lower item level.

This is exactly what I’m concerned about. SL vibes all over again. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

That’d be cool. I mean, I’d just like it if PVP gear actually worked for all PVP. At any rate, I’ll be farming out these sets, too - xmog is a motive, after all; also, I’ve heard that they have some pretty interesting set bonuses. That alone makes them worthwhile.

If they’re going to make it take like half a year to get, then our Honor/Conquest gear better work for WPVP in the meantime.

If you are just relying on killing players, it would take forever. But, the world quests do seem to give a pretty big chunk of the tokens. Also, sometimes the reward for a world quest is a blue quality world pvp item.

I haven’t verified, but it seems that there can be two world pvp quests up at a time. One can be solo’d but the other will require a group to kill a pretty tough mob (I guess they expect people to fight over it). The solo quest might reset daily.

AFAIK, both sets work in all forms of pvp combat.

Hmm. So maybe what they’re thinking of doing is making the WPVP set the one that scales up in WM? Conquest set will need to be upgraded via rating? I have no idea what they’re thinking… and the xpac drops this month. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:
