I personally think they blew it.
Yeah, I’m not sure it will make any discernable difference to those that have left or to those that have stayed.
The essence system is like path of titans. So it is like a glyph system with a third trinket slot. Not bad, but the problem is classes are boring in general lacking meaningful rotations and utility.
This impacts how new players perceive classes and also veterans that try to level alts.
The two new zones are nice.
Right now I give this patch a C+. If class tuning and talent changes occur it could be upgraded to a B-.
Dunno, I see a few things that look like fun but they’re also sticking with that stupid necklace. I’ll see how it feels on lives before I really decide.
I don’t think BFA is going to save WoW–we have to wait until the next expansion at this point, because BFA is a bust and needs to just go away.
Patch 8.2 is not a bad patch but it is still underwhelming when compared to patch 6.2 and patch 5.2. I think it is probably better than patch 7.2 IMO but overall not a patch that will help the game in a meaningful way.
Too many temporary systems and not enough positive long term changes. Reverting a lot of the GCD for example would be a positive long term change and a step forward for BFA.
8.2 looks good because it has a real raid and a real dungeon and stuff to do on the side.
but what is there to do until then? literally nothing…
gear max is still 425 and ive almost reached 410 half-arks ing everything. gear progression in this xpac sucks.
Based on what?
I’m so tired of hearing this. Classes are so similar to Legion in most cases its not even funny, and people enjoyed Legion just fine. To be clear I’m not pretending things didn’t get worse, mostly just as a result of Artifact Abilities becoming talents if they’re around at all, but it’s hardly -notably- worse for most specs.
I think so because that is often the top comments in belluar, hazel nutty, and E&T videos.
Classes in BFA are in a bad spot right now. Lets see if the next few builds address tuning and talent changes. That would benefit not only level capped players but also new and returning players leveling new alts or new allied races.
Essences are nice complimentary system but they are balance nightmare to balance on the PTR because they are generic. And thus Blizzard is forced to address by a spec by spec basis anyways. But it is less work and more better to address each spec by having long term positive changes than sinking time in a temporary system like the essence system IMVHO.
So much this, but because of animations, they do not have a choice on the GCD for quite a few spells for quite a few classes.
Me i could care less about the animations. Take em out, take the GCD out, id be happy. Im concentrating on the fight, not what my character looks like when im zoomed so far out i cant see the animations anyways!
I’m not saying it’s not a common sentiment, I’m saying it does’t make SENSE that it’s a common sentiment. I feel like, if anything, it’s more likely that people wanted something new and BfA is just a very slightly worse version of what they already had for 2 years.
(emphasis on very slightly, as I don’t feel most specs general rotation has changed a significant degree, and hell, some specs, like Elemental Shaman, are better off now than they were during Legion)
They can give the Demon Hunter or Death From Above treatment on spells/abilities like that and still revert the GCD.
Imo the game doesn’t need to be saved. That being said, i do think 8.2 is bringing some great improvements and will bring some people back/keep some people playing.
I agree. Next xpac will just be more of the same lies, non-communication, broken systems and garbage unless a new leader and team takes over.
It still doesn’t fix the most glaring problem. There is no real class progression or enhancement for the last 40 levels of the game. No new abilities or ability ranks.
Do not fret, they will fix all of that when they do their level squish.
I really hope that is the case. I hope Ion and his team get the boot or call it quits, because they’ve just trashed the game.
I think the two new zones look great.
Unfortunately they are undercut by the rest of the gameplay right now, which is still terrible.
They should have just abandoned the AP system. I still don’t know why they’ve convinced themselves that grinding out an unnecessary additional currency is somehow “fun and compelling” gameplay. It honestly just feels like chores you need to complete so your character isn’t needlessly underpowered (or just perpetually handicapped vs. folks with more time on their hands).
8.2 doesn’t address the problems of BFA - the upcoming patch will not “save WOW”. Sure, there’s more content and busy work but it doesn’t change the fundementals that have driven most players away from the game.
