it’s weird how completely out to lunch the majority of responses are to this thread. op could’ve worded it better but was not wrong. some men do treat women like garbage. i didn’t even realize to the degree the misogyny was until i started googling things. being anti-phone game. anti-simulation game. those are things that are mostly women who play. and most money in gaming comes from phone games. if we discount the 1% who spend most peoples yearly income on a phone game.
its mid 30s women that are carrying the gaming world right now. there are much more of us than there are under 18 year old dudes. the ones who supposedly were the greatest share of the market.
less men spend more money on mobile games, though. cuz they’re playing actually p2w pvp games and are whaling for hundreds of thousands, and sometimes millions of dollars. (i know cuz i talk to some of them all the time, on reddit)
if you’re anti-p2w and anti-whaling you need to look at successful men cuz they’re the problem, not women. and not anyone else.
i explained if you had actually read the entire post. people even passively crap on women because they discount someone playing puzzle games or things like the sims/other mobile type games as not being “real” gamers. because they think that “real” gamers wouldn’t play that “garbage.” women aren’t wasting a million dollars on fire emblem heroes to pwn teh n00b0rz. successful men are, however. if you think that people who casually play candy crush (which is mostly women) are the problem with the gaming industry, but not men who spend 3 average peoples incomes for the year on mobile gaming with pvp- you are a misogynist, and are the problem. general you here.
Ahhh this has nothing to do with women being treated bad. This is merely just an opinion about casual games not being real games and the people that play it not being real gamers. I don’t even know how this is translated to women being treated bad.

Read my comments. Slowly. I have explained twice already. You realize that even wow is a casual game compared to actual hard core games. Play eve or EQ and then come /flex about wow. It’s gatekeeper delusions from people who can’t hack it in actually difficult games who throw women under the bus the most.
no, it does make sense. i have plenty of female gamers who have talked to me about this. people who are high ranked in specific types of games. people who take time off from arena/CoD/whatever high tier content who play things like shop titans cuz it’s more fun than beating their heads into a wall and trying to not ever be on voice because when they do, they get hit on by creeps. not all men are. enough are though that it makes things uncomfortable for competitive women. if you’ve never lived through it maybe it doesn’t “make sense,” to you but it does to the people most affected by it. women.

You do not speak for all women, and they are not babies that need to be coddled. Hell, most of the women I meet in game are better talkers than the guys I know and they love doing it! You might not treat women, or people in general properly and finally noticed how toxic you are, but not all of us are like that, not all of us need to change like you do.
I mean yeah that isn’t wonderful I’m sure, but those women are more than likely talking to teenage boys who while acting bad are still immature teenage boys. Of course there’s always going to be some immature guy lingering around I suppose that is pumped full of testosterone. Doesn’t excuse that behavior, but yeah the worse those kids are going to get is a slap on the wrist.
But anyway that’s a different subject compared to men harassing women cause they play mobile games, which is dumb cause there are plenty of guys who do the same. But whatever good luck to you in your crusade.
i’ve spent years on this forum with men (and it is men) saying xyz game isn’t a “real” game and isn’t for “real” gamers. the games in question were either casual games like the sims, or mobile gaming in general. look how people responded to diablo immortal for craps sake. it’s passive misogyny because people who play that type of game the most, without wasting huge amounts of money on pvp stuff, are women. if i made some blanket statement about how anyone who watches sports is (insert insulting thing here) it would be the same type of thing. yes, some women watch sports as well but the majority of people who watch sports and spend money on merch are men. you can also see how men react to the women’s leagues of sports. despite them not even being even in the same league of popularity as the male leagues. call it pandering or virtue signalling and flexing about how much more talented male athletes are. it applies to many things. those are just the two most obvious polarizations.
Yeah the problem with my OP is everyone thinks I am accusing them of bad behavior as individual people, while I am making general statements I mean the community as a collective has bad apples and even if you not harassing someone as an individual person, if you see someone abusing someone in game or whatever you need to call it out.
yep. people individually are fine. but enough of the wrong type of people end up with a mob. the mob doesn’t have a conscience, it just is. anyone can be a party to that. even passively.
