Why you should treat women better

So until women as a whole start treating men with the respect you guys deserve, they don’t deserve respect or equal employment opportunity?

Are you going to keep trying to pinpoint what you feel like injecting into what I type and try to break it down to try and prove some kind of point? I use a generalization of Respect is earned and does not deserve to be automatically given based on gender. What you are trying to describe should just be common sense even though I realize not everyone gets raised the same or taught the same. What you describe happens from ALL genders, races, and ages of decent range. The point is basically I don’t care if you’re a male or female or whatever you identify as. If you want me to respect you prove you can do the job or earn it by your actions and not words or what you have for a body. and Before you want to try to force a breakdown I don’t give a crap about Race, Age of consent range, or whatever else. If we have fun doing things in a video game or working together awesome.

P.S. I consider those smaller subjects of berating, racial slurs, and whatever else as Common Sense especially in a work place.

People are animals some more so than others. Thus there will always be men who will try to be dominate over women with varied levels of cruelty no matter what, because it is wired in our primordial instincts. This can go both ways but in the end it is the reason this will be an unsolvable issue.

I think the gaming community, as a whole, has a pretty toxic attitude towards women. However, I also think they can have a toxic attitude towards each other, regardless of gender. The time crunches, the resist to unionize, the poor working conditions… it’s all bad. And I mean the corporations and sometimes the developers.

I don’t think all of the players are responsible. I’ve met plenty of crude men here, and I’ve also met my husband. Men aren’t the enemy, misogyny is.

I think you misread what I typed. I said it needs to stop both ways if we want equality. That means men stop doing what tyhey do and women stop doing what they do and just do the job.

And I am part of the community. It is not an entity unto itself.

I deny nothing and have nothing to be defensive about. If you wish to speak of your own experiences, please do.

I am not part of a cultural problem. Perhaps you need to stop assuming things.

I noticed my OP got buried and downvoted, will leave it to Blizzard decide what to do, just wanted to say sorry if I offended anyone, especially women.

Oh! So it’s “common sense” because you refuse to call treating humans with basic dignity as “respect” cause then you’d know just how stupid you’ve been sounding?

So you agree that it’s “common sense” (aka respectful) to not sexually harass people and to not treat people like crap? And not be a toxic racist man baby over the internet? Is it also common sense that everyone should be paid the same for the same amount of work based on the same amount of experience and time at a specific place of employment? Of which having a set pay scale with set criteria on where you land on the pay scale per position would solve? And having this information as public knowledge as well as normalizing discussion of personal salaries rather than allowing corporate culture to make it taboo so that people know when they are underpaid compared to their peers? Just seems like common sense and beneficial to everyone.

It’s generally my opinion that men who make posts like this have a guilty conscience.

Geez…I wonder why…maybe because we have enough White Knight posts already? Or the fact that you casually blamed every male to be a chauvinist pig despite that most of us are not. I wonder if you are taking a stand on any other platform on this subject especially the ones that are worse in their portrayal of women or do you only show up in your armor for those special occasions when it’s “popular?”

But I never said that.

Oh My! You claim that the wow gaming community is bad for women. You based this on what? Well, let me tell you about my daughters and mine. My daughters at the time were in their teen and are twins. They played tank/healer combo and as soon as they logged in…they got up to 50 whispers asking about running instances or pvp buddies wanted them to pvp…they were so popular on the server that if they were getting camped…they could form a raid group with in minutes, they were invited to every raid, instance and event. For the most part everyone was pretty nice to them. To be honest they had a bit too much power…if someone was rude to them…they could end up blacklisted. As a parent who monitored them…I was impressed with the community…a few kids didn’t have the best social skill but they were not being mean or anything.

Take it how you like but everyone has different experiences

I never understand why you’re telling the players this when it’s the developers that are the problem.

You did not say it directly but your whole post is that men are chauvinist pigs. You’re basically Dr. Phil. You use your words to not say it outright but you said it. Ignorance is truly bliss.

It should be common sense to not bring Racism, Sexual abuse, etc etc into a Workplace. If you are already there and its there then remove the person. Sorry but that should be common sense. If its not then we can talk about how people are raised or taught.

As for the rest of it you want to keep adding on to what I generalized. A lot of people are toxic babies over the internet like men, women, kids, and adults. Thats the internet sadly and nothing past a certain point can really be done about it. I can’t speak for those people so that would not apply to us debating.

As for whatever reason you keep adding on more and more on a generalized statement, Pay rates should not be based on gender. Work ethic, knowledge, and experience should be some of the primaries depending on what job it is. There are jobs where sadly yea you will have discrimination because of strength, worries about people getting hurt, etc. I don’t control those at all so I will not have a real answer for you. Sorry but I also wont be able to give you an answer about the don’t talk about salaries. In a lot handbooks for employees you either sign you won’t or they don’t have that page I cant give you a straight response to that.

I think people have completely misinterpreted my original post…

When I said we have a toxic attitude towards women, I didn’t mean you as an individual people.

So you agree that everyone should be allotted a basic level of respect that they shouldn’t have to earn such as not being sexually harassed, not being insulted based on their gender, race or whatever else.

Or should I keep talking down to you in an insulting and disrespectful manner because you haven’t earned that respect yet?

By your response you are basically acting how you are trying to argue against by acting in a derogatory manner? Usually that ruins any credit of what you are trying to accomplish in this debate. Either way I just took you as someone trying to force his view on a generalized statement. So no as a worker new hire you have not earned my respect for the job. As a person you get the common sense decency you deserve. If you don’t like that statement then you might as well give up because I compartmentalize things and it works for me and those around me in real life. We get along with no problems and have had no issues. beyond the occasional bs stuff.

To clarify a person doesn’t Earn me being decent or nice to them. that’s common sense and given UNTIL they prove they dont deserve it. A person will have to earn what they deserve in the work force. We can argue all night on this but you will keep trying to argue semantics and variables neither you nor i would ever control past a certain point.
