Why wow lore is better than FF14

How many books does FFXIV make you read to understand what is going on?

I swear these people will make up ANYTHING to put down the slightest hint of competition to WoW.

There isn’t even anything I can even think of that could even be misconstrued as sexualization of children (not even going to address what they consider “over” sexualization… As if there’s an acceptable level before it goes “over”) in FFXIV.

These forums are whack.

I feel like this is an overall answer which is time management. You’ll always find the time to catch on stuff when your plate is full in reality. However when it comes to lore I think both games are okay, but WoW did slack around Cataclysm and beyond. I believe they just ran out of ideas to keep the pacing very smooth at best. FF14 pacing is slow, but smooth and your character is part of the history interacting with the main characters a lot better than our character in WoW.

In short your character is more engage with the story lore in FFXIV than in WoW. Those who played FFXIV 1.0. There characters gets special dialogues and a forever status on their account. I don’t know if WoW ever did that to their audience yet.

more reason to be upset by the over-sexualizing of underaged female characters in ff14.

It is apparently incredibly harmful to women and young children too.

Hmmm, I am middle class, well into middle age and have a full time job. I have no interest in opting out of the narrative, in fact a quality narrative will draw me in more.

I have never liked pvp and only did it some during TBC. So that time sink does not effect me. I no longer raid, got tired of the jerks and drama. So I play multiple mmorpgs and have time to engage with the narrative in all of them.

Oh, time management skills help too.

Cool, good thing WoW and FF14 are actually both pretty good about clothed female heroes, and the only overly sexualized models are the player characters.

FF14 is no worse than WoW is. I’m not even sure what you’re arguing anymore but you’re just wrong.

This is something by comparison I can at least respect, but FFXIV is not “pornographic in nature”. However, a lot of people have bikinis and other things, but the same thing occurs frequently here as well. I can none the less understand where you are coming from, but even so FFXIV (and WoW) are not designed or intended for children to play in the first place… these games are rated T for a reason.

If this is your reason for wanting to play WoW–and you don’t require one, what you play is your choice–then that is perfectly well and I do not hold it against you. ^^

The lore being subpar however I stand by in my previous post. I don’t think it would help to simply say the same thing again. I don’t understand your logic at all on that part, and it feels heavily like an excuse rather than a logical reason.

Yeah no thanks. Over-sexualized content gets flushed down the toilet in my house.

we wont even go into how blatantly creepy a lot of the lalafell fan content is over there.

If you’ve ever had a hand in raising a child then that one just fires off so many red flags.

Each FF game is a re-imagination that makes use of some common tropes and characters, but each re-imagination is incredibly unique, more so than many ‘high fantasy-sword and sorcery’ mashups like D&D settings, Wow, Everquest etc…

This individual is not being fair in their assessment at all.

I have no clue what you are talking about. What I have seen in FF14 is not what I would call oversexualized or pornographic. Same goes for WoW. I can see more poolside or at the beach in real life.

Think of it like this… WoW is an MMORPG. FF14 is a RPGMMO. Two different games, with little comparison. Which one has the best combat? That’s where I’ll be.

This is getting closer and closer as time goes on.

It sounds like you are a good dad. Protecting children is a good thing, but fully grown women can make their own choices. If you feel FFXIV is too sexualized and you don’t want to let your girl play it, I can totally respect that. But I don’t think it’s fair to look at it that and pretend WoW is saintly and virtuous by comparison. It’s for this reason that I don’t understand your thought process here. Previously I just assumed you were looking for reasons to justify hating FFXIV but I don’t really know at this point.

I can at least understand where you are coming from though at least, since it’s definitely more prominent in FFXIV, but your crusade against that game is misguided at best. If you like WoW, please play WoW. But WoW has this too. It’s not innocent at all of this.

But your topic is about the lore, and again, your logic behind the lore of WoW being better just doesn’t make sense. It sounds more like you just dislike any kind of story in both games, and just like WoW more because you can skip it. That’s okay, a lot of people have issues with being forced to do the MSQ (main scenario quest) in FFXIV, but that’s not a problem with the ‘story’, it’s a problem with game mechanics. It’s a valid complaint but has nothing to do with the actual quality of the story in either game.

Another troll post from Dederonomy.

WoW lore is better because you can skip the lore?
In that case, Drinking motor oil is better than drinking water. You can opt out of drinking motor oil so it’s therefore better, whereas water is pretty much mandatory for the human experience.

Had to admit it, this got a good chuckle out of me.

I haven’t seen any sexual content in the game itself, but I don’t try to put a sexual spin on things, so who knows? When I see a player running around in a bikini, I just see a player running around in a bikini - I don’t start thinking about sex.

I mean in real life too, if I see someone wearing short shorts I don’t start thinking about sex. When someone does start sexualizing others, I think they are being kind of creepy. I would rather they kept their thoughts to themselves, than start drooling all over everything and making comments.

Yeah I wouldn’t let me 18 year old daughter play the game either.
