I like my games to have a story, and that story to be coherent. I enjoy that Square Enix remembered the “RPG” part of the MMORPG. If it’s not your cup of tea, that’s fine, but let’s not act like you’re somehow too busy to enjoy a good story. If you can find time to raid, PVP and hold a full time job, you can find time to read a book or watch a movie. Like, c’mon now.

I’ve played basically every numbered Final Fantasy game outside of 11 (Cause it’s an MMO I don’t have any intrest in) and 14?15? I’m bad with roman numerals sometimes. (Haven’t gotten around to it yet, heard it was incomplete, and I was waiting for the “Full” edition to come out, as I do with all games with story-DLC)
None of the plot points in FF14 are unique or new, they are all, in some way, rehashes of their previous products with very minor alterations.

Generally what I’m reading from those who like the ff14 is you enjoy playing a single player game with friends on. Fair enough. You want an arduous long drawn out cohesive narrative. Most people do not want that. They want an action rpg in an online world. They don’t want some flavor of the week story pushed on them.
For those against ff14 - I agree that the over-sexualizing of children and women in FF14 and I have a strong thought that their day in the sun is coming.
No, its not lol. WoW lore = retconned every expansion to fit some new narrative in. FF14’s lore STAYS consistent and does NOT retcon.
Also their lore made me feel sad whenever we lost characters along the way and events that were a tragedy…wow has never made me feel that way.

How can you say their Lore is garbage they literally had an overarching theme through multiple expansions coming to climax that some say is part of the best expansion they’ve ever released and all that was experienced in the game. Then we got world of Warcraft who retcons previous stuff to make it work who leaves story lines unfinished and just never picks it back up and who releases multiple things through multiple sources either by their books you have to buy the game so on. I don’t think the way the company handles the lore is even comparable 14 does a hell of a lot better job the developing and making cohesive story. Wow had a great lore at its core but the current team does not know how to utilize it their best in my opinion

Basically, the OP is trying to argue that “WoW lore is better than FFXIV’s story because lore doesn’t matter”.
Okay.
I think what you are trying to argue is that you enjoy not being “forced” to play a given story. That would have more merit. It doesn’t make the story better, though. It just makes the story optional.

Complete misrepresentation of how they do their lore. A lot of it is derivative of other final fantasy games, but they are not “rehashes of previous plot points.” The way you say that makes it kind of sus that you even know what a plot is in the first place.
The latest raid for example is heavily influenced by ffviii, but it’s not at all the story of ffxiii. It’s its own story.
The main story in FFXIV is it’s own story entirely.
Why so many people talk about things the know nothing about?

Lets be honest OP< you never bothered to actually play FFXIV’s story and Your knowledge of Wow’s lore/story is based on a cut-scene you hit skip 1/3 of the way through.

I want to reword my post because I recently saw some other posts from the OP and I beleive I misread him. He means well at least as far as women go but I still want to correct the assumption being made.
First of all, this is completely, objectively wrong. There is no “sexualization” of children whatsoever in FFXIV, and this is a really weak attempt to attack the game. I can’t pretend this isn’t the case, sorry.
Now that that is out of the way, whether gear exists in a game for women to ‘sexualize’ their characters is totally up to them. They do not require ‘purity’ or ‘protection’ in this way. Rather, FFXIV offers a great deal of feminine gear options (many which are not overly sexualized) and does a very good job at offering cute and likeable aesthetic gear for them.
WoW fails to do this heavily, as the small amount of “feminine” gear in game tends to be full length dresses, full length skirts, and bikini armor. (And even in the case of the dresses, most cannot be transmogged.) This is a case where WoW is dramatically behind and could do with making things better, honestly.
I reworded this post because I saw you say something in another thread to the extent of “the way they were treating women was abhorrent”, so I at least know you mean well, but you are looking at it incorrectly. I’d advise none the less to give this topic a rest, and at the very least don’t continue down this ideology of thinking you need to protect women from “sexualized” gear.

Not exactly sure how oversexualizing women and children in a video game like ff14 does makes any case for gender equality. At least wow is a game I can play with my daughter.
Ff14 on the other hand is pornographic in nature.
And back to my original point, the lore is subpar.
Does seeing women with skin showing in a video game make you feel insecure? Does it hurt your fee fee’s, maybe you need a safe space like hello kitty island?
