Why would anyone ask for WOW classic?

I have infinite free time and I’ve played WOW more than most have since launch, and my sub expires Feb 2022 (thanks to tokens) yet I can’t see myself playing WOW classic despite wanting to like many others around here.

What am I really going to play it for?
What am I trying to accomplish?

These are some valid questions and given what the game offers, pretty much it comes down to casual raiding which will pretty much consistent of 10% of my overall time I could be playing the game, and then what am I going to do with the other 90%?

Even the raiding is about killing static mechanic bosses I’ve killed many times long time ago. World PvP? For what, fun? Killing some newbs over and over? Battlegrounds? That won’t be around and chasing achievements which again won’t be available on launch that ultimately are irrelevant.

I’ve come to conclude that there is only one market that wants WOW, especially WOW classic, and that is those individuals who can’t wait to socialize with others, especially in a place such in a large group, which is why through the years I disliked raiding even more given how there was excessive talking, usually by the most vocal kiddies while the rest having to endure listening to their crap just so they can be done with the raid.

TLDR, WOW classic is for individuals who need friends, more importantly individuals who need attention, somebody listening them cause obviously most likely few if not anyone does IRL.

You picked a great time to ask that question because in less than 5 hours we will all by playing the game (or in queue) and could care less about someone who just wants to bash what others love.

Happy Classic Day OP! Try as you might, you won’t bring me down! Have a good one!

Personally I’m resubscribing for the nostalgia.
I was definitely addicted, and a few years of my life “wasted”.
But I have a lot of fond memories playing vanilla.
I still have nightmares of wandering the barrens aimlessly.
To much has changed in retail, no class has their niche, and it’s all just blended together, & simplified.
I prefer the struggle of vanilla, every level of felt like an accomplishment, and finding that upgrade to your equipment felt meaningful.

I know a lot of the mystery is gone, back in 2004, less resources were available, everything was new, and not until later were you able to just reference material and stats.
But getting back into it now, maybe we can all just capture a little bit of our childhood Joy

Not everything has to have a goal beyond just doing it

An honest answer for once: I dislike every expac for the reason that PvE and PvP are entirely segregated from each other. PvP for res gear, PvE for raid gear, how does this stupid design make sense? Why wouldn’t you want to do BOTH at once?! This destroys any reason for me to play TBC and up, even though arenas are cool, Outlands is the best looking area in the game, and so on.

Another thing is, while I haven’t world PvPed much, the most fun I ever had was as a ret in the opening weeks of Wrath. World PvP should take some coordination, some planning, and so on. Not much of it mind you, but who knows how far you can take it? WoW doesn’t take any skill, you literally can only push one button at a time; the satisfaction comes from grinding, and a little of planning etc. And I’m going to attempt to gain that satisfaction for however long I play, as I made the decision to play regardless of how easy it is I guess.

So there, two reasons to play: grind satisfaction combined with world pvp, which you are severely underestimating in my view by calling it “killing noobs over and over”, and that it actually includes all the content for everyone participating, i.e. both PvE and PvP.

I need all that stuff…

Quite the revelatory statement.

Yes. WoW Classic is for people who play a game for fun. Whatever sense of virtue you’re getting from torturing yourself with Modern, you should go back to doing it and not try to score points here.
