I mean, personally? I hope not, because redeeming her for a genocide and an ATTEMPTED one on the gilneans just sends the absolute worse message possible to your fan base.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the Night Elves (the nature aspect and wild gods mostly) and I do hope Tyrande does get the revenge she deserves.
I do like the Worgen, they are actually the only Alliance race I still have respect for. They fought against the Horde when Anduin signed peace treaties behind their backs, and they have reason to see justice done against Sylvanas just like the Night Elves.
And I also think that if Sylvanas was ever brought to justice by either Genn or Tyrande, Night Elf fans and Worgen fans should be happy about it together instead of trying to say that one deserved the kill more.
From my perspective though, the way the story unfolds, the perfect ending for Sylvanas would be to be killed by Tyrande (perhaps with all the innocent Night Elf souls that were murdered and tortured) because Genn didn’t even enter the Shadowlands at all. But generally I think it would’ve been way better if he actually did, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that he didn’t enter.
And this is why it bothers me that the writers still cling to their wild theories that “Sylvanas (or her actions) isn’t evil”, and why I think that neither the Night Elves or Worgen will ever get their justice.
And this is why it makes me so mad as a Night Elf player that Teldrassil is seen as “not evil” just as it reasonably makes worgen players mad that Gilneas is seen as “not evil” by the very people who wrote it, because that just translates into justification and redemption.
As I said, they direct their anger at the wrong people.
Then who does it apply to? Those who want Teldrassil to matter? Those who want Sylvanas to pay for what she did? Those who want some form of closure or catharsis?
Those who are jerks to horde players. They’re typically night elf players.
A big (though not singular) issue is that nelf players want a huge power fantasy where every player race and faction is subservient and lesser to night elves both in equal measure.
I take it that the players just want the Night Elves to not look like chumps in their own territory. I mean, look at what Ivar and his pack did to the forsaken at gilneas? Wrecked them and made them look like chumps.
Thats all the reasonable players want. Have that one moment where they can be proud and not ran rough shod over by the horde
That and not have a genocide commited on your race (and then their souls tortured because apparently a genocide alone doesn’t cut it anymore) and then have the person who did it described as “not evil”.
That’s cool to hear, and I apologize too if I was rude towards you earlier.
I’m just hoping Blizzard can apologize to us in some way too, by not redeeming and glorifying Sylvanas and instead giving us some sort of long needed justice and resolution, both Worgen and Night Elves.
I think they simply want to feel like they aren’t helpless. They had to watch their race be genocided wuíthout being able to do anything about it, and so far without being able to enact vengeance. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for.
As for me, I merely want to defeat Sylvanas utterly, and throw her into the maw where she can contemplate her sins for an eternity or so. That exact scenario probably won’t happen, but i’ll settle for her being defeated one way or another.
Yea, not seeing that happen sadly as long as Blizz keeps defending Sylvanas in every single interview, but one can hope I guess. Though I probably won’t be here to comment on it since my game time already ran out a while ago and I should lose my forum access anytime.
And it’s also not getting renewed if Blizzard plans to justify or redeem Sylvanas after everything.
Sorry to see you go. But here’s to hoping right? I’m bracing for another round of disappointment though. And from the sound of it? Justifying her seems like the hill blizzard plans to die on
But it still burned. And they still haven’t gotten revenge on anyone, except Nathanos I guess. And then both Malfurion and Tyrande was made to look like chumps, to prop up the jailer in 8.1. And ultimately it didn’t matter that more horde soldiers died during the war of thorns, because the Horde still had enough to fight the Alliance evenly the rest of the war.
