Why was Benediction transfers not locked? 20600 Alliance now and rising

This is clear negligence. Layers should not mean they allow transfers indefinitely. There should be a limit. This server is approaching 30k population as the Alliance transfers continue to pile on one after the other.

There hasn’t even been many horde transfers lately with the population sitting at 3300+ but the ratio continues to get worse and worse anyways. Now the Horde are really starting to lose hope because this imbalanced was never halted.

Shhh, I’ve only xferd two of my toons from my dead server, don’t get my other alts locked out forever.

It seems inevitable that there will be like 4 megaservers within the coming weeks and there’s no way to avoid it. If you were to lock out Bene, there would be dead servers with no choice but to simply stop playing.

Blizz is aggressively destroying one of our favorite franchises while they afk in sensitivity trainings and sexual harassment seminars, but locking one of the few remaining viable servers at this point will only cause more bad sentiment.

My guild is going there tomorrow, lol. Originally we were thinking grob, but in the end we didn’t want to take any chances on it dying out as well. Some of our ppl have a lot of alts and don’t want to have to pay for it again in 3 months.

Yep that is the exact reason people are going/went to bene. It is simply the safest bet.

Yes, this should have happened a long time ago. People on here said so. As well as in many other places (Reddit, Youtube videos etc). It all got ignored and it’s frustrating.

The way I see it Blizzards choice to do nothing was all about money.

The player base also seems to be more interested in getting fast groups with people they will never see or talk to again than playing an MMO. They want a lobby game where they can brag about imaginary numbers instead of having a good community MMO experience.

Anyway, my alliance is not on Benediction because I refuse to play there after researching and deciding I’d rather quit than play there. I don’t hold it against people who went there for a safe bet though. I said the same to my horde guild about Faerlina although I may be talked into going over as I’ve always had a goal to do the TBCC content with my guild but I’ll just raid log as that server offers a fun level of 0.

I miss the days when both alliance and horde were over 20k on 1 server.

Bro this was called back in June when Kromcrush fell to benediction.

They all refused to believe and laughed and laughed.

6 months and 17 dead servers later…

It’s too late now unless they offered free transfers OFF for people to get away from the queue.

That’s exactly what it should be. A warning 30 days out that layers will be reduced, queues expected to follow. Free transfers for the dominant faction off.

You know back in old retail when a new xpac or phase launched and your big server got swamped every night so you took the free ride off just to play? It used to be a normal option.

Nowadays they seem to enjoy how strong and maintenance free their servers are so there’s no need to manage any of it…and no excuse to stop the xfer money. Less work is more profit.

Because when have free transfers ever worked?Like seriously all they’ve done since day 1 is ruin the game.

Skeram/stalaag/incendius which rippled into so many other server issues.

The only good free xfers is from dead servers to big servers since it’s like 100 people moving who cares.

And wow awesome, so 7k alliance all go to some random super dead server and make it 100%. It’s not like they will chose a PvP server with horde on it already lol they already dodged. They would just pick grobbulus and call it a day.

I would be furious if I spent $100 to leave a server like netherwind for bene only for them to remove layers and screw the server outta nowhere. That would be the ultimate greed from blizzard.

Because they never turned them off even after it started tipping over the server. I believe sulfuras also had free horde in once, which led to the alliance exodus.

You’re right, everything is so far gone there are no reasonable destinations left and grobb doesn’t need to be tipped either.

Should people really be surprised if it turns out 20k people is too big for one faction to be without repercussions? Bene was classified as “full” a long time before that but still allowed to grow.

Nothing more than lame ideals and wishful thinking I had posted.
There is no digging out of this situation now.

But it’s not “too big”

It’s completely fine and people are enjoying the server.

Layering makes it completely fine.

It cracks me up how many people want Blizzard to act and enforce server locks for transfers because people want to play on those servers by their own free will and choice.

But, yet some of yall want Blizzard to take the ability of us making our own free will choices away… Let us spend our own money how we want to. I worked for my money…not you. :woman_shrugging:

P.S. The servers will never have a balanced population between factions.

It cracks me up how many people did this thing with utterly no regard for everyone else. The snowballing effect for the servers left behind where those who stick it out have an increasingly harder time to group or use the AH or survive wpvp/questing. The minority faction on the server they went to, getting more outnumbered by the day and now they have to pay to leave or just suffer excessive bullying from the majority faction holding a grudge for what they fled from on their old server. But sure, your money your rights.

Make no mistake, I paid plenty of my own tolls to try to chase a happy gameplay experience. But it was never at complete disregard for those affected by it. I quit Sulfuras horde simply because the alliance abandoned the server. I held out in Earthfury alliance until the guild that promised to stay, didn’t. And it was soon 2% alliance with 40 people online total. So I went to the only somewhat balanced server left. Not happy to be part of the 65% faction now but I just wpvp respectfully and don’t join unfair situations. I mostly just defend alliance towns.

I guess that’s what makes me the fool, these ideals that the majority can’t be bothered with. They pay for their own fun so forget everyone else.

I am fully aware the time for locks was 6 months ago. It can’t be done now without aggroing everyone who paid to build the megaservers.

This is as absurd as saying stop signs shouldn’t be a thing because people should have the free will and choice to drive however they want. This doesn’t even address the lack of choice for people being left to languish on a dead server.

Their choice is to either stop playing or pay a blackmail fee to transfer to a bloated server where they can finally play the game they already paid to play.

Server caps and faction locks are good for not only that one server, but for all of them.

Yeah because Blizzard doesn’t have faction caps. Because of their inability to actually manage their own servers, you now have the choice to play on a pretend PvP server. No other flavor available.

Revel in your free will and choice.

I’m one of the original kromcrush → benediction transfers that kinda started all this, krom was like 80/20 and the entire alliance basically decided to transfer to benediction together, bene was a reasonably balanced server with a ton of alliance and horde, the problem we had is that we couldn’t really find anywhere to transfer except bene, keep in mind we were paying $25 per character

krom → grobb wasn’t feasible, we are an east coast guild made up of mainly east coast players with a few europeans, we couldn’t go there, its west coast and RP, neither of which suit us.

krom → faerlina looked bad, the realm was already 65%+ horde and was likely only going to get worse just like krom did, it had a list of horde retail pvpers and big horde guilds that would only attract more and more horde players.

The final realm we looked at was netherwind, but the community was small + already alliance favored and didn’t really have any particularly high ranking guilds other than Overclock

It turns out we made the correct decision but we had no idea 13k other alliance would show up in the same manner that we did

FWIW Grobb won’t die. Emerald Dream is still a fairly populated realm and a lot of Grobb folks are former Emerald Dream.

This is a rock solid point. I hope the horde on Grobb stick around. They got some fight in them, but we’ll see.

Incase you haven’t figured it out, they left xfers open to bene so everyone on Alliance would be forced to move. They let a few players on dead servers move for free so everyone else on non free servers would move.

This seems to be the fate of pretty much anything that’s designed for a certain niche once it gets too popular. The masses come in and force changes to fit what they want. This alienates the old players, but since they’re relatively few in number, the company that makes the product is willing to let them go.

Pretty much everything that has gone wrong with this game, at least from a community perspective, can be attributed to people taking a game that was ideally meant to be played about 15-20 hours a week (that was casual for an MMO back in the day), and trying to squeeze it into 6-10 hours a week.

While I am personally a proponent of mega servers, every time I see you post I feel bad. You’re loosing the game again to the same type of people who took it the first time. I don’t really have any solution for you, but I do know that it must suck.
