Why this bug isn't still fixed for me?

There’s a huge arcane servitar on my druid character and Death knight pet for no reason. It doesn’t disappear no matter what i do. I reported this bug in bug forum and send ticket in game too but no action taken after 2-3 days. My druid character is unplayble because of that bug, why it takes so long to fix a bug? A HUGE ARCANE SERVITAR sitting on my characters’ backs! What should i do? WOW support team isn’t doing anything about my horrible bugs. This bug has been there for a long time on my Death knight toon, now it also goes for my Druid, too. THis isn’t looking good.

They don’t fix bugs for individual characters unless it is a known recorded bug, and the Devs give them permission - which is rare because it normally makes things worse. Your only option for bugs is to report them to QA via the in-game bug report tool, or the Bug Report forum. Tickets are not how you report bugs.

If it is a bug, it will get fixed when the Devs fix it, usually in a patch eventually.

Usually though these things are due to phasing or quests that are not completed. Sometimes killing the character can drop unwanted buffs. Other times you have to finish a quest chain. Wowhead is usually a good place to search for info.

GMs are not allowed to give game hints.

EDIT - I did a quick search and found something that might help you.

Seems that person solved it by joining a non rated arena match and it went away. Other options might work too.

I tried to kill myself 3 times and it is still there even in spirit form, i tried to go into raid instance, and that guy is still on my back in raid too. I will try rated arena just as you suggest, thanks for the reply.

The person I quoted used a NON-rated arena. Just to be specific. I don’t do arenas so honestly don’t know anything about it. I hope it does work for you though!

Woot!!! So glad to hear it worked and your chars are free from that weight on their backs. Good luck with the rest of your adventures :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

I apologize ahead of time for how this question sounds… but based on the replies it seems that there is a known bug and Blizzards’ response is: WE are not going to fix it for you and we’re not going to tell YOU how to fix it… Go to the forums and see if THEY will tell you how to fix it.

Is this a typical response?

(And good job on helping the OP when Blizzard wouldn’t)

I would not be able to say. I don’t have access to Blizzard’s QA infrastructure and there is no public mention of it. There are only a few rare case of player running into it. I would put it into the category of “really weird effect stuff that is hard to repeat consistently and almost never happens”. Those kinds of things make it hard for QA to document steps to reproduce it and even analyze it.

Even if something is a known bug, Blizzard does not give the GMs tools to fix it for individual users except in very very rare cases. You don’t want customer support mucking with game changes, generally speaking. It tends to make things worse given they are not coders, developers, etc. When the Devs do patch an actual bug, any manual changes done before that can make things much worse.

Correct. They don’t give game hints. Many many many things in a game as large and complex as WoW, are related to quests, phasing, etc. They do not help players sort that out.

Yes. You will be told to utilize community resources such as asking other players for game hints, or using a resource like Wowhead.

If it is actually a Bug, then that is also generally out of the GMs hands. Again, the proper way to report bugs is through the in-game tool or the Bug Report forum. GMs (tickets) don’t fix bugs.

You can read a lot more about what GMs can, and can’t, do in this thread. Sometimes players expect GMs to be able to just do anything they want, but that is far from true. They are very limited by tools and policies.

Very helpful, thank you! I understand why they wouldn’t want non-coders making changes.
I guess my only concern is WHY would a GM not tell the player how to get the guy off his back? It’s a BUG. He’s not asking for quest hints or help.
I get that they it’s a rare occurrence, so they there’s not much info they can pass on to the coders. But what is the reasoning behind them not being permitted to say “It’s a bug. Meanwhile, go jump into a BG and the problem will be solved”?

  1. It is not a confirmed bug most likely. Not uncommon for very rare things. They also are not part of QA with access to a full list of bugs.
  2. GMs/CS are their own unit separate from all the games. They handle tickets for every Blizzard game and service. Account access/recovery, billing, purchase issues, appeals, etc. They do not have the deep insight into every facet of every game.
  3. They don’t allow game hints and never have. I don’t know why, but they GMs are not allowed. Probably because it would require an immense amount of game knowledge, and a fair amount of research time.
  4. The tools are already there to look up things that players can use themselves. Wowhead and the like.

You are asking a GM to make an official statement something is a bug when it is not, to their knowledge, a known bug. You are also asking them to give game hints that they are not allowed to do.

I can help though with some quick google-fu, as can other players. That is what a game Community can help with

Thank you for taking the time to explain all that. I have a better understanding of it now and it makes sense!
