Why the rush?

I have been forum lurking for the past week, mainly looking to see when a new wave of beta invites goes out to see when I should check again, and I’m noticing a trend. It seems like there are a lot of people who are going to rush to 60 and join a guild that’s going to “take down Rag in week 2”, and my question is, why?

Why are so many people so preoccupied with the rush to 60 and finishing all the content so quickly? I want to take my time and enjoy the game as it comes, leveling professions, and doing all the dungeons at level. If it takes a month, it takes a month, if it takes longer, so be it.

I also want to be in a guild that does MC and onward without feeling like I have to get to 60 in the second week of live.

My question is this: can I have my cake and eat it too? Can I enjoy the game in my own time and still eventually get to the endgame content and participate? I am the kind of person willing to put in the time to grind out the time/gear/consumables needed to be effective and not just be carried.

Will there be like-minded groups out there that feel the same way as I do? Or am I wasting my time?

You will be fine. There are plenty of people that want to enjoy the leveling process. It’s mainly the private server folks that want everything asap and reset…

I assure you Blizzard does not want the content to be blitzed and reset every 6 months

I think people want to make a name for themselves early on then level a alt, not to mention how long it takes to master a production profession.

I will be taking it slow to, but I do want to hit 60 and do the content with everyone else. Its gonna be hard since my last experience with classic was being an idiot child and “exploring” + never reaching past level 33.

Gear is god, my warlock had full felheart and i ate faces in pvp. [AZURESONG MAGEBLADE]<fills my heart with sheer joy

Some people just enjoy that aspect.

Others have been actively encouraged to speed level to get ahead of the curve for one reason another, so that way they can actively enjoy the game when all the hype does die down. Taking over a market early on is a good way to gain massive amounts of money that make leveling alts that much more enjoyable later down the line.

Quite frankly, I’m in favor of play how you want.

Bedomere, I am with you. I am going to take my time and enjoy the content just as I did 14 years ago in Vanilla.

People who rush will miss adventure. If you don’t stop to smell the flowers, you are no better than a person who doesn’t have flowers. I’m gonna take sweet time.

I just hope blizzard doesn’t release phases too fast.

My thing is, I haven’t been able to (legally) play this original game for almost 10 years. I don’t want to waste this new opportunity rushing to the end.

Me too… and try to lead a guild, and try to make friends like I made at the times.

Simple answer is we are living in an era of instant gratification. Varuca Salt is strong in many kiddos these days.

Naw dude, take your time. I played hard in Vanilla, never again. This is a museum piece, and will be around for a very long time. Getting ahead of the pack means ziltch. Especially if you did all of this stuff originally, there are no world first here. It took me about 3 months to level a toon back in Vanilla, I am guessing it will take around 4+ this time around. I am not rushing, and I will still get all of the pretty things I want. I have always been a healer though, as a freelance healer, it was never hard getting groups. I am going to 5-10 man until I am out of content, then hit up the rando MC, world dragon, whatever from that point. Easy, and relaxed.

I didn’t play during vanilla so I certainly am planning on taking my time.

Yes!!!

Just make sure to form or join a guild before you hit level 8-9. Stay with that guild for the long hall and just remember like a person , your character name carries a reputation on the server. Even if you don’t raid consistently with your own guild, your integrity will help find you in raids with guild mates real life friends guilds and so on. If you are a Holy priest with skill and integrity, you will have an unending list of invites to raids and dungeons.

Sadly layering will make this wonky. You may very well not see people again until you are well past those levels.

This will be the minority, by far. The threads just blow up.

A lot of us will be taking our time for sure, yes the endgame will be there waiting for us.

A big part of this is PVP servers probably, people rush to max level to avoid falling behind and potentially getting ganked by someone higher level or more geared than them. Less about the PVE, that’s just in the way of getting that phat loot.

It’s pretty simple - competitive people like to achieve things first, enjoying the challenge and pacing of such an accomplishment. And for us competitive people, that’s really fun.

There’s plenty of variety in this too - some players want a week 2 rag, others want a week 6 rag or a week 8 rag, whatever. There’s a goal in sight, a plan to adhere to, and a team built around accomplishing it.

But the competition was complete 15 years ago, there are no world firsts anymore. What is the point?
