I love the math people use to justify their own misconceptions…
classic has been out for over 3 months… we are just now getting phase 2… so how does that equate to phase 6 being less then 9 months away?
and even if it did release in under a year… why would that be so bad… how much content do you think is available for endgame vanilla? There is not a years worth…
I really believe you are mistaken on this assertion. If I had to hazard a guess I would say the tallest part of the bell curve is somewhere between 40 and 55.
Our Guild has 931 members and a grand total of 2 people have hit 60 so far. While we may be behind the curve as a guild, I’m still not seeing many level 60s running around in any of the major cities or out in the World. As a matter of fact it is a rarity that I see any level 60s. If they were in fact the majority of players as many have stated then at least 40% of the people I seeing hanging around Ironforge would be 60 - but not even 10% of the players I see are level 60.
See, if there’s a continuum of players, people constantly coming and going, there is not “behind”. There is “now” and the crop of players playing “now”.
If, instead, Classic is some kind of Season thing. Once and done, then sure. But that suggests that Classic is “finite”. Has a start and an end.
Vs simply a park to play in.
When you go to Disneyland today, you’re not “behind”. You go, you run the rides, you go home. Some of there rides have changed over the years, but mostly it’s Disneyland. But outside of crazed Disneyphiles, there aren’t high level Disney Park Visitors.
Just folks.
So, if you feel that Classic is going to dry up and die, then, I guess get in, get done, and be part of the die off.
Or, it’s a long term place where things happen over time and the ride goes and goes and goes letting folks on and off of it as they choose.
An EXTREME minority had killed Ragnaros by the time BWL released in Vanilla WoW. Ragnaros world first was done 2.5 months before the release of BWL; there were probably less than 100 guilds in the world that killed him at that point.
If you want to play a game that holds your hand and lets you be on an equal playing field to those that put in time and effort, there’s a game called BfA you may be interested in.
Each server probably has different population dynamics. On Bigglesworth, I would say the majority of ‘day 1’ players are 60 and many are even working on their 1st or 2nd alt.
We have about 500 or so members in our guild, but there’s a lot of people that haven’t logged in in weeks too, so there is some attrition.
The last time I saw census numbers was a month or so ago but even then, most players were in the 40-60 range. Certainly many more are 60 by now.
This is the Retail mentality that has ruined that version of the game. It is not about leveling ‘efficiently’, it is about having fun while leveling. If you (the royal you) want to race through content just to play a couple of end game RAIDs then retail is that-a-way.
Why they are or aren’t where they are doesn’t matter. There are more of them then there are of you.
That’s what matters.
You can cater to the minority and go bankrupt. Because that’s what hardcore players are: the minority. Or you can cater to your bulk consumer and profit.
If you think Blizzard will cater to the Hardcore then I kindly refer you to the last 15 years of Blizzard’s publishing history as to how well that plays out.
They cater to hardcore to the extent that the casual(s), with the perceived notion of being where the hardcore are one day, believe they should be catered to and the rest of their design decisions are made to accommodate said casuals getting to where they need to be in order to experience the same content as the Hardcore.
It’s a balancing act that Hardcore players think they’re winning but aren’t actually gaining anything other than what is needed to give casuals the illusion that they too are “hardcore players”.
Fact: Hardcore players constitute enough income to pay for the annual toilet paper useage of Blizzard employees.
Casuals pay for the server operations and salaries of developers.
Devs can always go down the street to Taco Bell and take a dump. They can’t, however, miss car, house & boat payments.
A handful of the “hardcore” players I know, rushed to 60 then stopped their sub. They claimed the game doesnt’ have enough and that its going to die. These players I know are also either A) Students w/ min part time job B) Unemployed Students or C) People that work full time and have no other commitments.
They also are usually broke IRL too, not sure if that’s common or what.
They’ll also re up their subs come each new phase because they don’t have much else going on.
Thats the problem, the majority of the Servers are not 60 yet! They are spamming because there are only a few groups doing things, because the 60 pool is much smaller then the 45-55 pool.
I don’t see how they can be behind when we have months and months of no new raids to go… how in the world can you fall behind with this much dead time for gearing and leveling? All there is to do for anyone else is Pvp just so they can try to get the Pvp gear which few will even get
