It’s great that the Maw isn’t a walk in the park, but it simply isn’t fun.
I hate it. Hell, it and Torghast are both knockoffs of Coldharbour of ESO complete with Daedra, but that was a little bit more fun.
- The no mount issue is irritating, but I can deal with that.
- The mobs are so densely packed that if you burp, you attract something.
- Perdition Hold is crap.
- Dying and then returning as a physical body sucks, especially if you have gotten to Perdition Hold to get the core, get killed and then can’t get back to loot the core.
Primary Maw survival skill: keep tabs on opposing faction players, especially those with common AoE abilities. If you acquire a pursuer, make way for the nearest fight and run through.
Note: this works equally well when used on your faction members if you don’t mind being a total XXXX.
Other then my 10 souls and an occasional quest to go there the Meh can rot in the hell that it is.
That is an argument that I made so clearly it did come from someone. Unless you are denying my right to be a somebody?
Glad I’m not the only one who noticed this. I thought, make it all blue and it’s Coldharbour! Except Coldharbour is kinda fun and a lot more interesting.
He might, but I ain’t. Even with the ability to mount in Naz, I would still call it worse than the Maw. And I say that only, ONLY because the Maw has the decency to be basically all flat surface at the very least unlike Naz which was a cliff side hell hole.
Hunters and Shaman can move around decently fast as well. My DK is an absolute nightmare to play in the Maw and i actually quit playing her because of it.
Im a 100% pvp player, i dont touch pve content further than few layers of torghast for my legendary, and the renown stuff, and I absolutely hate both. But thats just me.
From a pvp perspective, the maw has brought back world pvp, its like stranglethorn all over again but in hell. Visual wise it looks sick tbh, and many edges to typhoon people off <3 weve been forming 5-10 man groups and raiding alliance players in the middle of their quests and destroying them. Its a really fun place for world PVP, no doubt, as for the pve stuff i have no idea so you guys can continue to discuss.
I meant good idea as in a dangerous place, designed as the WoW equivalent of Hell. This just oozes potential. All sorts of lore, all sorts of weird and fantastical creatures, a faction INSIDE the Maw trying to fight back against the Maw (Venari doesn’t count, he’s one shady af dude). It had great potential, so in that, it was a great idea.
The execution was everything you LISTED. All the things they did to make the zone simply not fun to explore or do anything in.
Exactly. It was hard, it was unforgiving, but you had fun getting around, and killing stuff was fun. There are many games that send you to their equivalent of hell. While these places are dangerous, they’re also made to be something the Player enjoys, all while trying to avoid dying in the process.
It is arbitrary.
It’s also a sad fact that because I can go at travel speed on several of my toons, I enjoy exploring the Maw, sometimes even Risking moving toward Eye Tier 4!
Other toons without Travel Speed? I do the BARE minimum. And of course Blizzard locked the only (to my knowledge) mount that lets you RIDE in the maw behind the masochistic, untested, unbalanced, Twisting Corridoors.
I actually like The Maw. But, I’m a contrarian, so…
It is sort of funny when one starts to fall asleep while the dentist is using their machinary so to speak.
if the maw is warcraft hell, why doesn’t it just drop us back in BFA?
From how you’ve described it WPVP sounds awful
You know that quirky gal that sounds a lot like Ana? She actually sells consumables. They’re actually pretty good. They help you get around The Maw without dying. Weird. I know. Maybe try using them. They aren’t even that expensive.
Dropping the sarcasm, I like the risk of losing a currency and having an area where its pretty easy to get overwhelmed is nice. I like that we have an area that has daily quests and its not just this “lemme run in a big circle to gather these guys up and then aoe them all down” I like running around and sometimes running across a player who looks like they’re in a really bad spot try to dart in and help them get control back.
Just let me mount up and I’m good. Walking around a map this big as a Pally, DK, or Lock is disgusting.
I’ve never had an issue with the Maw. I go in get to Eye 5 then go do other stuff. Can’t tell you how many times I got nasty whispers from players, but hey whatever I’ve been a Worgen since Cataclysm so I’m sorry my racial ability works. We Worgen might as well get something after 10 years of neglect.
I kind of feel like I’m cheating when my Worgen just drops to all four. It’s just a severe lack of consistency on Blizzard’s half. Where they give a RACE a huge advantage like that.
I mean, at least Timeless Isle was consistent. The only flying you did was via island stuff or using gliders.
The Maw is not consistent in that regard. And that’s one of the first laws of making a believable world. Consistency.
10 years of neglect. 10 years of being ignored and hated. 10 years of being laughed at for choosing to play the Worgen race. I think one little thing like being able to use Running Wild in the maw hardly makes up for it but its a start. The only advantage is the movement speed we still get Eye of the Jailor and get kicked out of the zone like everyone else.
