I think the maw itself is okay and I’d love to explore it more, but the Eye of the Jailer actively punishes exploration since I have to kill a million mobs between point A and point B while my debuff ticks onwards.
Do a couple dailies? Well, guess it’s time to leave.
Did you even dare to kill a rare? Enjoy your debuffs.
I’m over the maw. After this latest story quest line experience it is apparent blizz has no care for how it treats it customer. If i die there I don’t try to retrieve my currency. I just go complete what i have to and leave.
It is a horrible area, terrible gaming experience, and one of the few things that has ever made me consider cancelling my sub.
I finally completed the 8/9 of the covenant the maw in this quest area was so compact you will repeatedly die. I know it’s suppose to be meaningful but by goddly 20 deaths for a quest never have i died so much since wod for the legendary head piece. Why the torture?
There is already a limitation on how much rep can be gained on one day from rare farming anyway, because of how jailer aggro works.
If necessary, maybe do something that limits rep gains from killing the same rare repeatedly, or a similar thing.
Right now the phasing is genuinely a problem in areas like Perdition Hold. A good example is the Power of the Colussus quest. On a character that is just gearing up, it’s annoying to even get to the location, and the mob is designed for a group.
Once you get there, using the group finder is essentially impossible, unless somebody is making a group on your server. The only way is to leave the Maw and come back. Or join a group before entering the Maw, which means a lot of travel time to join up with the rest of the group.
I think it’s fine making a zone you’re supposed to not want to be in, as long as you don’t put in rewards for being there longer than you have to. There should only be story quests in the maw, not a rep / currency grind and no herb / mining nodes.
Eye of the Jailer is a big reason. We’re given quite a bit of stuff to do in there and with the design of the zone and density of the mobs it takes too long as it is. But then we get these “slow you down” mechanics and it becomes a matter of screw this and hearth out. GG blizz.
If you could collect the 10 souls anyplace else I would not even go there, that and going to torghast every now and then. Hate the place, nothing there worth putting up with the boredom and the jailers eye and it takes to log to get anything done.
Its just so grey its a drag just to look at its bland and uninteresting dispite the intention to look like a hell. Irk even on my druid where I can be a mount it just gets me repelled pretty fast
it’s a complete and utter disaster. I can’t wrap my head around why they would do this. It’s so bad it’s honestly unbelievable.
It honestly feels like it’s either some sort of joke, or a spite to get back at the players for whatever sick malevolent reason.
It’s so awful. It’s a complete tragedy in every conceivable way.
How did we go from having zones like the Timeless Isle and Suramar to this complete and utter woefully egregious disaster? It’s like they devs have no idea what they’re doing and it really shows.
I’m actually kind of okay with the “it gets more dangerous the longer you remain” aspect, but:
I wish it didn’t ramp up so quickly, and
Dear god having to walk on foot throughout the entire zone is almost like the War On Flying has spread to ground mounts as well.
I mean sure, travel is absolutely terrible (no flightmaster whistle, infuriating terrain layouts, an unskippable cutscene every time you want to go anywhere from Oribos, etc) in this otherwise-ok expansion but The Maw is terrible on a whole new level. WTB a mount I can use for that garbage dump, and no the random mobs you can kill for a temporary fake mount hardly count.
This is one of the most disappointing aspects. We went from amazingly well designed endcap zones like Timeless Isle, Tanaan, and Argus to utterly terrible ones like Nazjatar and the Maw. How does that even happen? Did the entire zone design team leave between Legion and BFA?
