Is this supposed to be a gotcha? Like, I think it is well established by now that Void elves are simply another flavour of High elves. Exact quote from Ion. They originate from High elves. They’re literal BLOOD elves who got exiled from Silvermoon, and last time I checked Blood elves are High elves who renamed themselves. Just because some Void elves look different due to void corruption doesn’t make them blood or high elves any less. It is simply an extra feature they got. They’re physically, and still culturally speaking, Blood / High elves. Because some of them got magical enhancements from the Void does not make them blood or high elves any less.
The term ‘‘Void elf’’ is merely used to describe that group who experimented with the energies of the Void and got exiled from Silvermoon in the process. It’s not a term used for physical traits, despite that some Void elves look altered.

We also have to acknowledge the real reason Void Elves have gotten the customization fast-pass.
The Faction Balance is incredibly skewed in favor of Horde at the moment and Alliance needs more players. The bulk of the Horde play Blood Elves. If you could be the same looking character but Alliance, that might be their reasoning for doing it. It’s literally the only reason that makes sense because they have tried everything to throw stuff at the wall to make people go Ally.
And let’s be honest, this ain’t it chief.

NEs got far more than BEs and didn’t lose visual uniqueness to their AR in the process

You know what clashes?
Red eyes on paladins.
You know what doesn’t?
Red eyes on this!
Love my vampiric and classical goth hair styles. Lets pull the full kit together!

I mean Void Elves can also be defectors and elves just interested in the Void at this point. It’s like saying there’s a huge difference between Gen 3 DK from Arthas and Gen 4 DK from Bolvar.
It all kinda falls under a big banner despite context being different.

I really want some phoenix themed tattoos and red eyes for this character.

A vampiric theme should, if anything, be given to the Blood Elves in the form of San’layn.

It has nothing to do with gotchas, it has to do with that that’s exactly what’s going to happen and keep happening to Void Elves because everything I said is the truth.
It’s less about fairness and more about the point I made about ‘Oh man, how do we get people to stay Alliance’.
Just panic ‘break glass in case of X’ stuff.

It’s kind of interesting, I didn’t know artists saw Draenei with red eyes, but the Hearthstone team drew one with em. Kind of weird.

It made me start thinking that Draenei get an eye color based in gems or something.
I do wish DKs would have more eye options and a toggle for the eye tails. The OG eyes were just better imo and the class trainers in the floating ziggurat that I can’t remember the name of I think had the class trainers with unique eye colors already.

I’m asking for some visual uniqueness here.
Blood Elves don’t have red eyes.
Red is a void colour, and also expands the gothic kit that Blood Elves don’t have. You know, what with the Sunwell being holy, and their main class fantasy in the Horde being Paladins.
I mean, we dracula hair cuts.
C’mon. Finish it. Let us be the gothic elves of our dreams~
We can’t even be paladins so it’ll never clash or cause aesthetic issues.

Let’s be honest though Void elves were a largely unfinished project. Not only did they not give the players what exactly was being asked (High elves) but their concept of Void elves was literally just ‘‘I’m blue da bu di da bu dai’’ elves. Blue skin colours and blue hair. That was all. No voidy tattoos, no Old God eyes, no astral white and black hair, no starcursed hair, nothing! Just…blue hair and skin. Ofc people didn’t like it and it backfired massively.
A rushed, unfinished product overall.

I’ll have to do mock ups for that. For some reason I also envision goblins with a standard like “mom” tattoo but maybe it says gold instead of mom. If it were feasible for the game they would definitely have pin up tattoos though.

To be fair, that one is from the Kabal gang in Gadgetzan. Her eyes are glowing red because of their magic likely. Perhaps it’s from drinking their Potion of Madness. Yes, I play Hearthstone.
They really did not want to upset the Horde playerbase and ended up dragging it out way more and doing more damage, but hindsight is 20/20.

Fairness would not have allowed BEs to lose visual uniqueness as their customization pass while VEs got two passes and people want VEs to get just as much as attention as BEs moving forward? Once BEs get caught up

I think some of the neglect, especially when it comes to male Blood Elves who didn’t get facial hair separations like everyone else did and didn’t get as many options as lady Belves did is because of bias on the part of Blizzard regarding how the generic male Blood Elf is coded (complete with HIV positive openly gay voice actor).
That Hearthstone expansion made me so jealous I wish WoW was as silly and campy as the Hearthstone world. Would be really cool if they started collaborating with one another.
Does that make ones eyes turn red?
(I also love the thought of a Draenei thief stealing gems)
I agree! It was faction imbalance and like Linxy said herself, how little customizations we had! We were very limited and I’m so happy to see that’s changing! This ranger general will soon sport Alleria blonde!!
