Why the lack of Customization?

Chest hair option

Oh yeah that too.

Given that Blizzard Gave “evil” females abs, but not to the “good” females.

Do the designers think that girls with abs are evil? lmao.

Hopefully the newer designers have a change of heart! My only thing is that I’d probably give all my characters abs lmao

Scarifications… those are scarifications:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarification

Indeed quite iconic of Belves, but wait for the usual suspects to ask for them too cause suddenly they are “Belves” too… /rolleyes

I mean this “but MUH faction with MUH colors” they say now after literally defending the “neutrality of colors” is pure BS. The FROSTWOLF clan has sky blue as their main color, so excuse me but if the Hordies race to ever Horde has blue for the tabards of one of their clans, then there´s NO argument whatsoever that can excuse this “only in these colors cause MUH blue!!” childish Bs, period.

Heck, the devs should should pull the plug and let every race get every color available, after the Velf fiasco I don´t see why the races can´t have both “normal” and “extravagant” hair colors.

Ewwww… we will have to agree to disagree, cause frankly I see zero appeal in the parasites rejoining their “people” only after they broke their collective backs trying to fix the nation.

Because it was a completely different situation and context. People spent years not only asking for High Elves on Alliance but also creating and organizing and pushing their point that they should be able to have them available to play for Alliance players.

That same amount of effort wasn’t placed on Blood Elves at the time.

So thus it would’ve been strange then, knowing that Blizzard decided to give eye colors and skin tones to both, to hold off on them. When one group of people spent tremendous effort and time to receive them.

That’s a completely different context than right now, no matter how much anyone wants to ignore that context.

Especially since you’re also asking them to create new assets for Blood Elves whereas Void Elves have simply been receiving current assets.

Also the way they introduced Void elves, justified the additions while Belves are asking for new lore and stuff.

I’ll be honest I kinda see this the opposite.

Its one reason I really want them to expand void elf lore with a npc event in the Telogrus Rift showing new void elves being made from the wayfarers and scholars, where they come out with all of the customization options at random.

Some come out full blueberry with tentacles some half and half and others just as they were.

(not against the high elf stuff I just don’t think it’s explained yet.)

What new lore? Belf folk mostly have been asking for things like dark rangers and San’layn. Or Fel blood or Farstrider. Otherwise normal stuff like scars and battle damage.

All of that is already reasonably covered in the lore? Certainly as well as wayfarers and scholars are?

No?

San’layn joining the horde would be new lore.
Dark rangers are…that, dark rangers, a special Undead unit, not a race. It makes no sense as customization, for say, a mage or anything that isn’t a hunter really.

I meant Alleria. It was clear uber voiding one self wasn’t necessarily something that came with changes. Which is a shame. Alleria could’ve looked cooler and they could’ve given Vereesa the classic helf look to make her stand out.

Not really. They’ve already attempted. It wouldn’t be a major stretch. Though I would prefer AR treatment there and I agree having more story would be a good thing much like having more story to show Void Elves getting new members with the whole gamut of customizations coming out in the results would be good.

Honestly my listing of the options was meant in comparison to what void elves have lorewise to the options suggested by blood elf players. Which is in my opinion about the same.

Eh, not a insurmountable concept though. No real reason a Dark Ranger couldn’t choose to become something else. (also there is a fair likelihood we’ve seen rogues as Dark Rangers too.)

Regardless the options open up more for Blood Elf players and I dont’ think thats any different than wanting high elf options for void elves overall.

As I said I feel the opposite. Her creation and the player void elves was entirely different. I think shes unique not a lore justification for other things.

That said, I don’t see any good reason why we couldn’t have natural skin and hair void elves. Because of how they were made and the immense time it took to make Alleria its logical to assume that the Void Elves would seek out a new way to make more.

I like the option of combining aspects of the ritual that was turning Umbrics group into Void elves and Alleria’s path of learning. I think its reasonable to assume they can make a much faster more efficient setup of training and ritual to make more Void Elves relatively quickly.

On this though you and I are in full agreement. While I don’t think she needs to look different they did miss out on an opportunity to make her much more than a “high elf” looking person. (Also given the three sisters an actual physical change to her would have been thematic.)

If Void Elves weren’t given a second visual theme at the expense of their core race parent counterpart I wouldn’t feel so strongly about past a general want for Blood Elves to get such options, but Blood Elves should have the same energy returned to them to allow them to offer RP tools to the extent that was done for Void Elves.

On top of it all to allow Blood Elves to lose visual uniqueness gifting the AR two visual themes during a time when core races were said to be the priority, is very eye opening indeed.

And Blood Elves should on top of that always still fulfill their main visual theme better than Void Elves which is why further options added to the main visual theme should not be shared, here’s to Blood Elf exclusive Farstrider tattoos :hugs:

Why is everyone even so caught up on the Farstrider tattoos anyway? I’d much rather our High Elves be taking on their own aesthetic based around new lore and their home with the Alliance. It’d be so much more badass seeing them rocking gold and blue lion tattoos or some bs like that, imo. Their whole aesthetic should be based around their current lifestyle, which has almost nothing to do with Quel’thalas and should almost be entirely about Alliance themes. There’s basically nobody more patriotic about the Alliance than the Quel’dorei we have with us, lul

Not a bad idea honestly.

A Lion with a deep purple void glowy tattoo? Oh and if it glows even more in EE… hmm…

I have no issue with Faction specific tattoos. lol

I wouldn’t expect a Void Elf to be rocking anything really Alliance-y, but more options never hurt :man_shrugging: Hopefully in our future customization pass they’ll really expand on trying to make our HE choices look more in line with something you’d expect from a human, dwarf or gnome to have. We’d only need like 1/3 of the the resources dedicated to it too - the rest could go to making our VEs look more messed up

I wonder the same, believe me. That´s why I took the bother to look for an alternative design for the Belves.

And frankly stuff similar to this:

Seems quite fundamentally different to THIS:

After the all henna / mehndi research, i wonder if Rommath has his tattoos extended to include his chest.

There are means to differentiate between both races designs, the devs just have to put into the effort tbqh.

It’s not unheard for players to want to look like their faction leaders. Literally so many players of the other playable races want to look like their leaders, people are still asking to look like Thalyssra and have Lor’themar’s scar eye option for instance.

  • On the Void Elf side this means emulating Alleria as much as possible, tattoos are pretty much the last major bit (I would love feather-y hairstyles/braids as well for males/females)

On those trying to keep it exclusive to Blood Elves I personally can only conclude two motivations:

  • One is to “uphold visual uniqueness” , which…Alleria is the one with the tattoos with no Blood Elf Farstrider NPC in sight with them… so that speaks for itself :man_shrugging:

  • Two is a very minor group of individuals that are simply moving the gatekeeping customization goal post, who first tried to limit skin colors/blue eyes (failed), then moved onto hair colors (failed again), and now currently are focused on tattoos (third time’s a charm? or smth)

I don’t see how the first motivation can exist when the warpaint that Alleria has already exists and only on Alliance side.

The 2nd motivation are just kind of like those same few people that keep stumbling up the stairs and can’t get to the top of em.

These are all great designs :hugs:

I also really liked these concepts Izzabelle made as they fit Blood Elves well as both a part of the Horde and as Farstriders, while the Void Elves would follow Alleria’s more wispy and linear design.

Nightly reminder that you guys expand on the Void and Light themes of the Alliance ARs. Thanks.
