Why the hate on blizz developers?

I hear you. Well, that is a weak minded person then - to judge a whole guild of different ppl on how ONE person acts.

Oh, I don’t know… maybe because they keep removing things that players like, changing harmless things that don’t need to be changed - to try and please people who wouldn’t even purchase their products in the first place, and making the game less fun with every update? And don’t even get me started on their ridiculous vendetta against flying.

Of course not. Who in their right mind would want to take credit for some of the outright garbage they are TOLD to create by some accountant with no idea what makes engaging content?

They know it’s garbage when they are told what to make and it is quite obvious that some of it is unethical in the blatant way they take advantage of a vulnerable group of people with a tendency to gambling addictions.

Just look at where Josh ended up after his tenure with wow, tick tock… /sheesh
Or the dev who as an intern created the garrisons. It was quite obviously that the way the npcs path over each other in garrison buildings was created by someone with very little experience. He’s moved up to minecraft.

No hack wants to take credit or try to defend content they know is garbage.

This whole thing just seems overblown drama for the sake of drama. Doing raids on normal for an aotc style mount isnt exactly what id call devs being spiteful or petty. Iunno, this kinda stuff makes me realize that this games design direction is now being dictated by an angry mob that needs a witch to burn under any circumstance.

I don’t hate them but rather disappointed at their decisions at times, say one thing then mean another doesn’t go very well with most people .Distrust is hard to bandage and burns a lot of bridges.

Do you repeatedly do that though? Disappointing people, that is? Blizz figures out a way to do it very often for the vets so probably why.

Also forums aren’t all of the subs. Forums are probably 1% of the subs, give or take? Maybe less? So Idk lol

I just see this as yet another illustration of how they will probably be handling casual content in 10.0. Bait and switch - now go buy a carry.

Yes, fewer. When a massive number of pro-Blizz supporters come out of nowhere to support some decision that makes Blizzard look really bad, it’s not a coincidence.

I don’t think the accounting department is micromanaging development anywhere near the extent you think they do. These guys have worked together for years. They are all on the same page.

They are too proud to admit mistakes. Even when it became clear that something had gone horribly wrong with Shadowlands, they continued to take no responsibility and blamed players.

No, it is intentional at this late stage of their campaign against their subscribers.

Go after the project managers instead :dracthyr_hehe:

Seems like a 1st world problem to me with all due respect, have yourself a good afternoon Chenikah.

Copy pasters that leave everything up to art team to sell the game. And when they put effort out of the norm (that was probably asked for 10 year ago) they act like it was out of this world.

Thats my dev hate

Getting a bit off-topic are we? I also don’t write letters to congress since I’m Canadian.

What sort of craftsman would not object and refuse to work for a company that demands they create unengaging and manipulative content?

When I worked as a carpenter if the foreman would have ordered me to ignore the blueprint and frame walls with studs on 24" centers instead of the required 16", I would quit.

I’m certain the wave of experienced devs who quit during mid wod development did so because they were ethical craftsmen who took pride in their craft. The sort of carpenter who ignores blueprints so that the company can make more money by using fewer studs are hacks.

No way they are going to interact with those of us who see them for what they are.

Nice try, Steve, but you gave yourself away.

Because the devs hate us.

Personally, I don’t trust anyone who posts yellow.

Some of the people do the work as assigned. Others are managers who set up projects based around what they see as their goals. Some of these managers are better than others at describing the work assignments. The company has the reputation of failing to clarify what is meant when the work assignment is unclear, which results in employees having to guess and bugs that are difficult to troubleshoot.

The top planners are entirely responsible when they decide what to do next. Who are they? Bobby and Ion.

Bobby: “Let’s go esports!”
Ion: “Yeah!”

The perfect example is when players expressed major concerns about covenants during the development process. Ion told them that “they want to try to make this work”, but if it failed, there was a “ripcord” being designed in to make it possible to remove.

I knew they were lying, and later it turned out I was right. There never was a ripcord, and when all the badly-designed features of covenants turned out to be exactly as the doomsayers predicted, there was no salvaging it.

That’s your choice, but we don’t work for Blizzard and we don’t have an evil agenda. I’m just offering them my opinion as a player and that’s it. Sorry to disappoint Shreds.

Not as much as you might think.

I know.

Exactly. Blizzard accepted you onto the Community Council. You fit their criteria. That’s sus to me. It seems to me that virtually no one who shares a point of view similar to my own was invited into the Community Council. I am not concerned about this from a design perspective, but from a social dynamics perspective.

Can you point to any situation in which Blizzard has meaningfully utilized the community council?

If not, what are you there for? You stand out like an emergency road cone. Every time I glimpse one of your posts it screams, “Hall Monitor.” And since you’ve been chosen by Blizzard, you a) said something about yourself that they liked and probably hit on a key word or phrase they were looking for and b) likely maintain a lingering since of loyalty reinforced by the honor of being selected to have your posts show up in lovely goldenrod.

I’m not claiming there’s an evil agenda. It just looks an awful lot to me like Blizzard recruited their own white knight posse and are entrusting you guys to act as their unofficial apologists.

But, take whatever I say with a grain of salt. I’m not all there, you know. :upside_down_face:

You could never disappoint me.

Just take care never to disappoint them.

They’re going to run out of hall monitors and white knights eventually as new players will be rotated in. Once our time runs out you can have fun painting false pictures of the new group. :expressionless:
