1,flying mount,ruined world pvp,and lv70 can kill alt as they want,alt can’t fight back.
2,way too small map,for example:vanilla has 6 born places,TBC only have 1,yes,just 1,not to mention leveling places.
3,so little content, that’s why TBC needs you keep doing your rep,cz there’s nothing else to do.blacksmith just needs do a hammer, engineer only needs do a belt, all for arena,cz world pvp got ruined.
don’t even mention quests, who can remember any quests in outland??
from TBC, blizzard start focus on dungeon, wow form a world change to dungeons .
No accounting for tastes.
You should keep playing Classic Era.
Pretty sure wpvp stopped being much of a thing as soon as BGs came out.
wpvp has always been a meme an anyone who likes it is a sociopath
First of all, a lot of people on this forum will tell you you’re wrong about Vanilla and TBC and this is a very personal opinion. Just to go through your points:
- A lot of people don’t care about world PVP so will say these concerns are invalid, more on that later. Oh they already have LOL. Typical.
- I agree that the “world” is pretty small. Being able to get places quickly is good or bad depends on your perspective. The old world is still there but has always largely been “dead” after the TBC release.
- Raid logging is pretty big in TBCC and there was even a thread on this so you are correct. Some people prefer raid logging. Either way, I still can’t really put my finger on exactly why more people raid log since on the surface there is more to do. I communicate with my guild on Discord too but it’s a little different being in the game and doing fun little things in game vs talking on Discord.
On on World PVP. One of my favorite parts of the game personally so I’m with you there.
I really enjoyed both Vanilla and Classic and went through some “problems” in TBC. On my server during TBC World PVP after about 6 months was known to not be a thing and for that and other reasons such as the server becoming filled with toxic same faction players I rerolled. The “having to reroll” ended up making my TBC experience worse even though the new server was better. Due to that all I’ve never thought of TBC as a favorite expansion, even though most loved it.
I found that Vanilla/Classic world PVP was VERY alive even without battlegrounds… but I got out in the world and didn’t just sit in capital cities and I’m sure that was a part of it.
I’ve also found that there can absolutely be world PVP in TBCC. There are enough people doing things, so you just have to make it yourself. The problem is the TBCC servers and the server balance. Due to this the only real way to have World PVP is to be on the minority faction and start something but even that isn’t really the same.
Do the server issues make TBCC worse? Yes in my opinion but for reasons way outside of the world PVP stuff.
I preferred Classic to TBCC just because the overall community experience was better and the PVP was better. IMO.
If TBC is worse than Vanilla then there would be more people playing classic vanilla…oh wait WRONG.
Classic felt harder and a bit more rewarding imo.
The progression from A-Z is what they prefer. You can’t replicate that on current era servers, only with fresh.
For a lot of people in classic the thing that staved off purely raid logging was alts. TBC is absolutely god awful for alts because it puts an enormous hurdle in front of having fun in both PvE and PvP with the grinds and even when you do the grind it is fairly unrewarding.
In TBC you have to throw tens of hours at grinds that technically are helping you catch up, but in reality it is just helping you get to the starting line. Throw tens of hours at pvp to get a blue set that is two tiers behind what current pvpers have? Throw tens of hours at pve to finally be able to even just step into a raid that others have been raiding for weeks? Why bother?
TBC basically encourages players to find their spot early, stick to what they’ve already done the work on, and never touch anything else.
Also Outland sucks.
Honestly I went to a PVE server for TBCC and I love it. World PvP was fun back in the day when I had endless time to compete in meaningless skirmishes, but homie ain’t got that time now that I’m in my 30s.
I’m not knocking people who like it, but it’s not for me anymore.
TBC generally has better end-game, but yeah the smaller world and less focus on the leveling experience (to an extreme degree this time around due to boosts) doesn’t feel great. I wouldn’t want to lose a lot of the better class design, diminishing returns, arenas, cooler raids etc… but yeah, in a perfect world they find a way to “shrink” the gap between vanilla and tbc power so that it’s either a smaller climb or feels ALMOST as if it’s “horizontal progression”.
One big mistake WoW made was making old content overly-irrelevant each expansion.
Kevin Jordan said he always tried to push the idea that players would do anything for just ONE extra stat point, but the team didn’t really get the message.
As far as 70’s ganking lowbies it’s almost a rite of passage, but they could do things to penalize dishonorable kills maybe, it would REALLY help too if they would CAP faction imbalances around 60/40 or even less. Flying mounts are cool, just let engineers sell BoE net-o-matics.
you think that, but flying mounts is what really killed world pvp for good. one of the biggest criticisms of TBC
I mean, I sure didn’t see any wpvp to speak of after BGs. Even if flying mounts flying mounts decreased it, the difference between preBG wpvp and post was exponentially larger than precluding and post, imo
You understand people have to land to do anything right??? I’ve done a ridiculous amount of wpvp particularly early TBC. Whether it’s at the raid summoning stone or during my solo gold-farms, I get a lot of it in.
Haters gonna hate.
If people can beat Rag at lvl 58, that ain’t hard kid
Not even close to anything as to why TBCC is actually “worse”. But being “worse” is subjective. I disagree with everything you said OP, what made TBCC WORSE was blizzard offering a level boost, and how the player base exploited known content from vanilla to be miles ahead from what people should to be at now in TBCC.
I’m hoping the Season of Mastery Servers go to TBCC, I think it’ll be more enjoyable, and realistic to what the average player should be at.
TBC is like WOD. It’s great for raiders. No BS outside of raid to log on for you can just enjoy raiding then go enjoy other things in between.
Been ganking hillsbrad everyday for the past 2 years what u gonna do about it
I think you’re trying to convince yourself more than anyone else.
People keep mentioning raid logging in crusade… as if everyone didn’t already do that in classic. A few phases into classic, people were already raid logging. This didn’t suddenly start with crusade at all. In fact it was worse in classic because there were no heroics and no daily quests. Now there’s far more to do.
