400 000 players had to unsub because they no longer had money to play the game, out of those players 70% of them were hunters, 30 % were a warrior. So obviously due to the lack of money, the numbers of Hunter would drop more than anything.
So yes, this COULD be the reason why hunter lost so much… but like I said multiple times, we do NOT have any valid or complete information to know wether it was the case, nor which factor was really the cause.
Yes, we don’t have a player by player census but when you look at the data you can make an educated guess based on what happened during the time period of data collection.
I dunno, according the the data that keeps track of who’s playing what, hunter took a big hit at the beginning of legion. Can’t just dismiss a drop in hunters that big when they made a major spec change. I know a bunch of guys who quit playing hunters after that vs knowing nobody that swapped to it.
You can make any sort of speculation, but they remain speculation.

The data is using 2 month ish before legion, then almost a year later in legion. A lot has occurred since. Bordom, new class, changing main, quitting game, etc.
At the same time, you have a lot of folks with multiple class of the same. For example, I myself have 3 hunters at max level. So if in SL I decide to only max one during the data scan period… that will be 2 points less compared to my previous score.
WOD was easy stuff to level, real fast n easy (90 to 100 was joke once you get flying and go treasure hunting). It was also at that time that “Boosting” came out big, everyone got a free one. Thats another factor, what if I used it on a hunter, didn’t like it but didn’t delete… it counted. Then wouldn’t in legion because the person didn’t like it.
Could go on, thats just how much can affect those numbers. There’s more than meet the eyes, you need to dig deeper.
Well thats personal experience, which will be different for everyone. Mine, we had more SV. Friends prefer it more, we do both pvp and pve content. My raid guild (Legion to early BFA) passed from 3 ranged hunter to only 1, other 2 are SV.
Are you seriously suggesting that something completely unrelated to the game caused the number of Hunters who left to drop more than twice the drop warriors experience and thousands of times more than every other class? That’s what we call an unreasonable hypothesis. Unless you have reasoning to show why almost 300,000 Hunter players would experience money loss while almost zero players of most of the other classes would, then it can be dismissed.
So, show us the reasoning for why only Hunter players suffered so much from this “Gots no monies for da game”.
Oh, it’s an example? Great, then it can be dismissed by default. If you want to actually argue that something like this is the case, then you need valid reasoning to back it up. When we suggest that Hunter class changes caused so many Hunters to leave, we are pointing to valid reasoning to explain it. Can you do that with your attempted explanations of the data?
i don’t know why people are always posting data. i think the fact there are still people arguing about range vs melee after 4 years is plenty of evidence that maybe blizz messed up. pre-legion there were almost no melee discussions here, now there is a thread about it every week and about 10 people trying to redesign SV.
There’s always going to be a group of people unhappy about any changes, you can’t make everyone happy. So yes, there’s always going to be people talking about things they dislike. Easy to do than to says its good.
Sadly the unhappy crowd, no matter the size, is always the loudest as well. A thing specially true to the forums of WoW.
Yes its been near 4 years since the redesign of SV, Spriest, Demo, etc… do people still talk about it ? Yup, they still do. Was it a bad choice ? Nop. While it lost old members, it gained new ones. It created something new to explore, maybe Johny will stop his warrior and give hunter a try now.
People always have tons of ideas and etc when it comes to creating spec, ability or redesigning something else… that has never changed. It can give ideas to those actually brainstorming for changes at the office.
There’s probably always going to be a new thread everyweek, since they dont use the same… since nearly all of them goes off topic (like this one). But its always the same folks that talks about it.
Lol such a unique spec with a really STRONG fantasy. definitely not generic “spam cobra shot and use explosive shot”. Survival was DELETED because it had nothing unique about it. It was in an awkward spot between BM and MM and this is a fact. I do agree that they could do more with talents and bake some old Survival things like old school explosive shot/Black arrow into MM. There would literally be no difference between that and the RSV everyone misses so dearly.
