Why streamers need to announce their chosen realm

Yes, I understand that every realm will have streamers. But let’s be honest, we’re talking about the “mega streamers” here, the ones who have announced already that they will all congregate on the same realm. Whether they announce their realm today or on the day of launch, they will still have their army of fans following them on their chosen realm. Whether they announce today or on launch, people will still attempt to steal their names on the 12th (I highly doubt that’s even an issue; Blizzard has likely already reserved their chosen names for them on all realms or will allow them to name-reserve slightly earlier than the rest).

The thing is, whatever their reason is for waiting until the day of launch, they are elevating their own selfish reasons for doing so over the needs of tens of thousands and perhaps hundreds of thousands of Classic players. We all want to be able to reserve 3 names on our realm of choice, we all want to be able to coordinate with our friends / guildmates on a desired realm. But because of snowflake streamers holding out on announcing a realm, the best we can do is reserve just one name on 3 different realms and hope that lines up with the choice(s) of our friends and guildmates. They’re effectively holding the entire Classic community hostage with their antics.

And the fact that they “gave” people who don’t want to roll on a streamer realm 1 east coast and 1 west coast realm is incomprehensibly arrogant of them. It’s like they think they’re doing the rest of us a massive favor by announcing 2 realms they won’t be rolling on, as if we’re all going to automatically flock to just those 2 realms in order to have a chance at avoiding their toxic fanbase. Here’s a thought streamers: instead of “throwing us a bone” by gifting us these 2 realms, how about you do the responsible thing and just go ahead and announce what realm you plan on so the REST of us can actually have a legitimate name reservation experience and chance to coordinate with friends and guildmates!

If anyone has any legitimate arguments as to why putting the needs of a dozen or so streamers >>> the needs of hundreds of thousands is the responsible choice, I am all ears. But please don’t just apologize for them and call US the snowflakes when they are literally putting the name reservation / realm plans of hundreds of thousands of Classic players behind their own plans.

They’ve all made it sound like they will officially be announcing it soon, my guess would be either tonight or tomorrow morning.

they need to tell us now

I don’t really like their legions of fans, but they did announce where they won’t be playing. See classicist #30 about 20 mins in. Sorry, I can’t post links.

Sooner than later would definitely be favorable

what? just tell us the servers

So much text typed for a pointless cause. Just roll PVE if you’re worried about streamers. You people making these threads are the snowflakes.

I can’t remember the names. It’s one EC and one WC. Sorry, I watched it and remember them discussing it but didn’t take note of the names. Just go to YouTube and watch it.

Why do we hate streamers?

Classic cast. One word. Auto spell.

Seems over the top petty to me.

They get their panties in a twist because they see people having fun in ways that they don’t like, and can’t fathom the idea of just ignoring it.

They’re going to announce it tomorrow after they reserve their names. They’re not trying to let all the angsty streamer haters steal their names, and I don’t blame them.

Yea, this is incorrect. I generally don’t have anything against streamers (besides their plans to announce their realms only on the day of launch), it’s the community around them that irks me. I love that they generate unique content, draw attention to Classic, I’ve even enjoyed watching some of their content. Asmongold seems like a decent guy. It’s the launch day 2-hour-straight general chat hyper-spam of “INV TO ASMONGOLD LAYER!!” spam by seemingly non-sentient fans that I want to avoid. Thanks.

If anyone has any legitimate argument why one player should have less rights to play where they want than another I’m all ears.

No they don’t.

Umm… what? I’m not arguing that they shouldn’t be able to play where they want. But considering their prominence in the community and the effect it will have on their designated realm, the responsible thing for them to do would be to announce what realm that is. How does your argument address anything I said in the OP?

Really ? you are nto saying that they should have a ‘dsignated realm’ ???
Sorry but where another player (me, bob, random streamer, big streamer) play is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS .
They have the right to choose where they play and have no obligation to tell anyone.
