Why so much maintenance?

Hi everyone, I am somewhat confused / dismayed at how much so called ‘Tuesday’ maintenance they seem to be doing since Shadowlands dropped…
It seems to no longer be on just Tuesdays now, and they have maintenance for like 6 hours almost every single day of the week now.
Is this going to be the new WOW setup now, cannot play in the mornings anymore, because there will always be more maintenance, or are they near finished with this??
Thanks in advance!!

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands 12/15/2020, 6:00AM - 12/15/2020, 11:00AM Game unavailable during this time.
Almost every day now…
I live in Eastern time so, this means that the game is down from 9AM - 2PM here, and as I said, it seems to be constant…

Because Blizzard loves reading these exact same topics every week…

It is like this after every expansion. It will smooth out in a few weeks. Probably after the new year. Making changes to the database requires updating potentially hundreds of millions of records. Probably petabytes of information. Balancing changes update the database. And the majority of Maintenance only happens on Tuesday, not every day.

Because shadowlands just dropped.

Every tuesday, until they’re confident its stable and need less maintenance.

See you next tuesday.

Ahhhhh, OP wants a complaint thread of their very own rather than posting in one of the many other live, active threads right now. #OP hugs thread#

That is my point, it has not been just on Tuesdays. There was maintenance yesterday morning, and Saturday as well…

Are you talking about the regular server restarts that happen every day??

Why does someone always have to be whining when they have a legitimate question to you people??

Possibly, but my question is why would something they do every day take so many hours to complete??

Sometimes sh*t happens man.

Thanks you solved it.
You’re my hero!!

The daily restart lasts seconds, there isn’t a maintenance.

Perhaps I missed what you’re talking about. Though I generally play in the morning and everything has been pretty smooth.

Ask a stupid question…

Alright forget it, I guess, the people on this forum are so rude for no good reason!!

Longer maintenance is usually a typical thing following a new Xpac. This Xpac had many new things introduced other than just new content. The times will get shorter.

So they can nerf the classes that are having fun.

Why do you think?

Because there are about a DOZEN other active threads asking the same question and you could have either 1. found your answer there, or 2. asked your question there. Opening up a brand new thread is just hopping up and down for individual attention.

Let me help you understand:

  1. Expansion that was put together in the midst of a once in a century global pandemic, forcing massive changes to work flow, and how things get done.

  2. Said changes to work flow, make the likelihood of more cracks appearing in finished product almost a given.

  3. Expansion is released, and Blizzard is doing the best they can to play defense on the stuff that slipped through.

Its not that its rude. Its that every Tuesday for 16 years people ask the same question. Also at the drop of a new expansion, when there needs to be some extra maintenance people freak out. Its not a huge leap in logic to assume that there will need to be some extra work done at the launch of an expansion as things will pop up people couldn’t anticipate fully.

Tuesdays are, well Tuesdays. Been 16 years, just deal with it.
