Why single button assistant is a good feature

DPS loss, healer mechanic, etc etc

Well at least I’m confident that it will help bad players stay bad. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not if you don’t use it.

It’s an accessibly option, that’s off by default just like the color blind option.

its actually pretty horrible in some ways.
Just on a hunter and one keying it and my pets are just standing there looking stupid not attacking until it fired off an ability that make the pets attack.
My MACROS on hunter and warlock aways include /petattack to get my pets in and firing up the target from the first key press. This One Key thing falls a bit short in that…and a few other things you can easily do with macros that this feature doesnt.

Yeah, there are a few glaring weaknesses I’ve seen, and this is kind of one of them. I suppose we could argue that, if you’re mostly just using one button, it would be easy enough to put /petattack on a second button. I’ve also seen someone fiddling around with macros, and you can apparently macro the one-button key into other macros as well. But that’s a little more advanced than the people leaning on one-button are likely to get into right away.

Trust me, ain’t no 1 button Andy over performing me.

probably not. But we do have a number of folks in here clearly freaking out about the one key and they only reason to be stressing this hard about it is worry that the one key wonders will smoke them on details and embarass them in front of the cool kids lol

ā€œNot standing in fire is hard. For accessibility now all you need to do is hold down W and you character will automatically move to a safe space.ā€ :joy: I kid, but last week if you had told me we would be playing WoW with one macro button I would have called you nuts. lol

lol…if you had told me yaers ago that some would be in here bragging about how great they are playing the game whle using GSE and weakauras Id have probably giggled out loud like i do about it now. lol.

Lets take away the addons and see how they do.

I also think it’s a fine feature. It’ll help lower performing players do better overall, which is a win-win. Because the better they do, the better the group does.

new players don’t want one-button rotations. how many popular new games do you know with one button rotations? They added building and car driving to shooters.

It’s just hilarious that the devs could make harder specs easier to play, but they chose this instead.

If you just hit a button every GCD you’ll probably perform on par with this feature.

I don’t think it’s so clear cut.

No matter how Blizzard tunes it, I think there will always be a group of players that will abandon engaging with the rotation-based gameplay and just use the button because it’s the most efficient (and effective) way to play - and not because it’s the most fun or interesting way.

At the end of the day, Blizzard seems to think it’s worth the trade-off.

.3 from what i saw on ptr

That’s what I say, it doesn’t help at all to be a solution to disability problems, there have been players like you who are used to playing in different ways, we have to edit the keys we want to suit our ergonomic comfort in the game, the one key is a stupid whim that doesn’t help at all with the game experience, it’s not a Hack Slash, its game is based on something similar to action RPGs where MMOs are based on your build and the order of your skills, go further, it’s just typing.

I don’t think it reaches 20 buttons, I’ve never seen it exceed that between 5 or 6, and it mostly relies only on activating rapid mouse movement, this system really doesn’t help at all.

IDK… IDK… I don’t think it will attract a new audience based on other games that are faster and more fun than what we think MMOs are.

There are a lot of veterans, and even the physical complexity doesn’t affect gameplay.

There’s actually another reason why this system isn’t conducive to the game experience, IDK, IDK… But I know this doesn’t help at all.

Curious. How is it you think you know what actual new players want?

To be fair, I don’t talent into that on my pally. Y’all can survive on your own. But I do use the other stuff.

ā€œBut I like having all of these buttons to pressā€

is just pressing one button

Hey, I have to respectfully disagree—both because of the feature itself and where it might lead. Sure, it’s optional and no one has to use it. However, its introduction, combined with Blizzard’s recent track record, makes it feel like World of Warcraft is heading in a direction that doesn’t appeal to me.
