Why single button assistant is a good feature

Addons and macros that perform this same function have existed as long as i can remember, i was destroying people in PVP back in MOP with a single button rotation that required abit of tweaking with GSE.

I even still use it now in Heroic 25 man on retail and depending on gear and the boss will Absoloutley clear people on damage.

The reason i use it for the most part is that for me personally the game is WAY more fun that way, and secondly i only have feeling primarily in my index finger on my left hand but ive always been able to work around that when the addon is out of date for weeks at a time so a ( disability ) is not the primary reason.

secondly, my elderly mother LOVES playing world of warcraft and being able to see firsthand a casual getting killed by open world TRASH mobs because she just cant click spells fast enough or understand the 20 button rotation.

for us veterans of the game or even just young people i think people really misunderstand how insanely complex the talent and spell rotation system has honestly become. not even mentioning the UI.

you can argue some classes are 3 button anyway but that ignores the fact casuals may not want to play that specific class despite it being easier and may be drawn to say warrior or warlock for fantasy or RP reasons ECT.

I dont think its fair to say the one button assistant will ruin the game when i see for A FACT people popping 6 abilities at once in 0.1 seconds in pvp on a single button macro and have done for over a decade.

i dont see this changing anything for high level players that already use highly exploitative addons anyway even at the casual level, but will only either bring back players like my mum who love the game but find it too complex or will either bring an element of fun back to the game for other players not having to worry about complex systems and just jumping into PVP and spamming a button and just enjoying the game.

Sweats will still outperform this system in everyway.

Short answer: no it’s not.

This.
seems like a terrible idea.

This is a good idea.

Good players get to keep their buttons.

Bad players get to play the game.

It’s moreso about the game just losing more and more integrity every year

It’s a complex issue that has left retail feeling like a cashgrab phone game that’s a husk of a once great MMORPG

its been in the game already for over 10 years

problem is if good players adopt it to be even better. the skillgap will grow further.

There is a .2 sec gcd delay , it will never be the best option.

yes, and that’s a good thing.

but the forums are already demanding its removal.

we will have to fight hard to keep it from being removed.

i dont think it should be removed, but your comment about a skill gap growing is wrong.
Just by adding this the casual player will exceedingly close the gap to an experienced player just being able to cast abilities in the correct order

Until they don’t use a defensive and die.
That button won’t change a thing.

it’s not wrong.

in TBC there was only one difficulty, and you did as much as you could/wanted etc as far as raiding went. Heroic dungeons were introduced.

When wrath came, the gear resets, catchups, multiple difficulties with pathetic Normal Mode tuning started. We called them “wrath babies” for a reason. Fourth boss in ToC I did not even know what it does until my first pulls on heroic. On normal it just did some orbs around the room and died.

the skilled are getting more skilled. The scrubs are getting more scrubby. This has been growing for decades. And they all meet in M+ to drive each other nuts and leave each other’s keys. This game has rewarded incompetence for decades. The incompetence has grown. We are now debating one-button rotations.

One-button rotations.

i wonder what they will think of next. because we are already well within comical territory.

It is a good feature… unfortunately it’s being spearheaded by Blizzard who is notoriously bad when it comes to taking something that addon makers already do better and makes a far inferior version.

I’m a mediocre player and using the one button assist drops my dps by about 25%. The gap will be bigger for better players.

Its only a 2GB download and quick Details update to try it on the PTR

If it increases retention or brings in new players, it doesn’t matter what gets said on the forums.

yeabut…NOW its a problem…lol…it wasnt then…as recently as a week ago…you know…before they told us their adding a gimped version in game, lol

even if we’re all equal on our abilities, the actually good players would beat the game with no addons like weakaurus telling them what to do.
The mechanics is what I see murdering players in game…not their DPS outout.

lmao…or just stand in the green and pretend its not there. lol
Omg…that one little boss we needed to fight some time back to get that cool dragon mount…SIX WIPES over their refusing to move out of the floor mechanics.
I finally laughed and gave up and never did get the mount. lol

only for those scared to death that a one key commando is gonna outshine them and cost them their raid spot, Id say lol

I agree with you OP, it’s going to do a lot of good for the low- to low-mid game, and I support it all the way.

My only problem is, the one-button assist is going to cut in half the number of buttons my Retribution paladin has on his bar, and I won’t know how to fill that space.

I found the ret pally with no cleanses, no interrupts, no blessing of sac/freedom usage, and no use of word of glory or defensives.
