Why Shaman is bad - Checklist edition

Shamans had it, but they changed it. Probably because the animations made it difficult to see ground mechanics

At this point I hope they never introduce another class. It seems to always come down to them getting better versions of our abilities. :'c We are just the warehouse no one wants to go into, but will peak into to say “Eww what is that? Let’s re-do that someplace nicer.”

  1. Stop forcing us to take primordial wave in pvp by making our tier set focused on primordial wave

  2. Reduce the number of global cooldowns. We have five or so major damage abilities on 15 second or shorter recast timers and all of them have a global cooldown. How about removing 2 or 3 of those off global cooldown so the spec feels less clunky? And all our totems are also on global cooldowns… Something has to give.

I really enjoyed enhancement during Shadowlands and Dragonflight. Some changes here and there but the flow seemed good. Lots of buttons to push, set up stacked burst windows, felt good. Not for everyone though, certainly overwhelmed people’s senses, too many APM in order to deliver a satisfying result. Although choice is an illusion.

Elemental during BFA felt better.

I don’t like things like primordial wave being necessary. The freedom to mix and match the build without feeling punished is… Why even have the illusion of choice when in reality the game developers balance and focus on a specific play style? Kind of hard to justify so many options when in the end the only real path is the one you’re forced to take.

I’ve noticed that too. Purge seems way worse and sometime useless unless you get innervate off a healer or alter time/barrier off a mage. Still do it off cd though haha.

I do think electrocute would resolve this though. Give purge a nature dot effect (bigger if running greater purge).

How about making Sundering a disorient or a knockdown or something so it doesn’t DR w/hex?

Replace the hex slow talent with a talent to make hex 45 sec CD instant cast? So you could choose between 15 sec CD cast or 45 sec CD instant w/second hex talent point?

Lower purge mana cost to 10% and greater purge to 15%? Mana cost is so high.

I like the idea of making burrow baseline in the general shaman talent tree. Would also be nice if burrow had some kind of heal over time attached to it like ice block. While burrowed in the earth, it could rejuvenate the shaman…

Please put this back to 1 minute CD. Would also be nice if it lasted longer again too. Disarm duration is almost as long and it has to ramp…

Please just make this a passive buff from WF weapon class-wide. Enhance has plenty of things to track and cast w/o having to constantly worry about making sure WF totem is down. Please don’t tie the QOL adjustment to a hero tree.

Just make earth Ele baseline and put burrow here, with a choice node with something to have it heal you, or something else.

Shaman has too many mandatory PvP talents as it is. Would solve a lot

How about having an interrupt duration of 2 sec when a missed interrupt procs 4 sec of precog?

Can we go back to 3 sec interrupt in PvP please?

Going from 3 to 2 was a 50% reduction in duration.

And it’s our primary means of instant cast ccing a healer to try to land a kill.

Or how about at least limiting precog duration to the successful interrupt duration?

The precognitive lasting as long as the juked kick lockout is very promising. Idk if it goes on this list for shaman but I do like that idea.

Instant hex is too strong sadly. I’d rather stormweaver stacks gave .1 sec off the cast of hex instead. So you could get a big heal or a .5 (maybe .75 being the fastest) second (without haste) hex from a 10 point storm weaver.

Weapon imbues are outdated specially since u cant really customize how you use them. Make them auras.

Reincarante can be useful if it gave 60% hp minimum and/or applied astral shift when used.
Rework it for pvp as something that just keeps you alive if you reach 0 hp. Or keeps u alive for 10 seconds unless you get a kill in that time

I don’t want to add to the list… but it would be so awesome for Enhance to have Feral Lunge baseline and finally have a gap closer and possibly Feral Spirits off GCD to keep the flow of the combat… :pleading_face::point_right:t4::point_left:t4:

How would we make us shamans heard by blizzard?

This post getting a lot of attention is a step in that direction. And any similar post.

The real reason shaman is bad, no developer ever acknowledges the feedback, or does anything about it, not in how many years now?
