The OP is incorrect, Resilience was so broken I remember a decked out 70 resil warlock was slaughtering 80s without resil gear in goldshire. I remember playing my pom mage in the arena and our kill target was always the person with the least resil gear on. Resilience gear was terrible in PvE but you were a god in PvP.
On one hand itās good, gives you more staying power, rewards you for being pvp geared, and helps prevent 1 shot instagibs.
On the other hand, going for fatty crits in pvp is fun! Tones that down a lot.
PVP wont get slow till they add that innate healing debuff for games that run long, we have a few xpacs of a Mortal Strike debuff being needed to reliably score kills.
PVP never became the esport they wanted it to, so eventually we go from them trying everything they can to make it stick, to them ignoring it completely as a part of the game.
Just skip TBC. WotLK is the best state that game was ever in from both a class balance perspective and an accessibility:reward perspective for content. Despite what their mastermind himself said, the badges worked. The only hiccup is the heroic raid tiers causing ilvl bloat in the last two patches; heroic should have just been the raid difficulty.
5s gets you gear WAY WAY faster, which leads to snowballing 2s and 3s as well. Skill only matters so much when you outgear your opposition.
Any good player is gonna wanna jack their 5s rating as high as possible and collect gear super fast.
Let us play through TBC as is before introducing WotLK mechanicsā¦
The TBC raids were really fun, and the world felt really good too, I donāt want to miss that.
It was darn good excluding that death knights existed.
It was actually really cool, and I saw no problem with getting gear that way at all. It was 10X better than anything that came after it. Some called it welfare gear, and really it was not because the player had to do the content to cash in on items. It took longer to get the badge gear than the actual raid gear, so in terms of welfare, it was not, just a different mechanism to gear up via.
agreed.
This is neither better nor worse than any of the other āuse the more-modern version of this in Classic!ā threads people have started.
In other words, this idea stinks.
Says the druid.
ā¦You know, I would think if you wanted to argue that a change should be universally recognized as an improvement, outright proclaiming that you expect one entire class to hate it would be suboptimal.
Moral of the story is WoW has always been an imbalanced piece of trash no matter what expansion you talk about, Blizzard can do amazing worlds, lore, nice style graphics that can survive decades, entertainig gameplay but they are complete mental midgets when talking about balancing issuesā¦
ORā¦
Those balancing āissuesā have always been part of the plan and part of their design phylosophy to milk peoples money by keeping them rerolling alts and they exported that now to make them reroll expansions entirelly.
From:
āThis class is weak, they buffed that other class, Iām rolling that now out of spite!ā
To:
āClassic is better at this but oh no!, TBC had this done better, I better roll on that new serverā¦ā , āWOTLK is the peak of WoW⦠nah it wasnāt, Iām going back to Classic----> to hell with Classic, Iām going Shadow landsā¦ā
The only constant to this is your sub, you keep being subbed to a game that you donāt even like.
He blatantly said that they ātake turnsā to what specs are the best and at that time demonology was supposed to be the worst.
Yeah, I am conviced they just do this on purpose.
I know, I just wanted you to see it for your self.
resilience was nerfed around arena 2ā¦
If TBC comes out like classic with the final pre WOTLK patch, it will be the most nerfed, flacid piece of garbage that classic currently is, lacking in all substance and challenge.
I am expecting that is what they will do. Resilience was useless as soon as armor penetration came into the game, and point for point, haste has always been the same dps increase as crit.
Buffed actually, they included DoT damage into it that previously bypassed it entirely. Maybe they reduced the scaling a bit at that point, I cant remember its been too long⦠Its roughly 39 Resilience = 1% minus crit and 2% crit damage reduction, and when you stack it too the moon like a lot of healers and DoT casters did, well itās kinda a pain to deal with.
Agreed, the early raids before nerfs were a lot more fun. speaking specifically about SSC, Mag, and TK, not about Karazan, it was actually buffed a couple of times. The heroic dungeons were nerfed a few times, and that is sad.
Exactly why we went haste in late season 3, and never turned back, because it was way better. Surprised that more people dont already know, I thought this was fairly common info.
You havenāt watched any of the classic 3s tournament. Even the commentators say losing 70% of health is common, and these players are wearing more Stam than a normal player wears.
I feel like you have an emotional tie to critting people for big numbers which is why logic is eluding you.
Iāll do my best.
This may sound really strange, but my preference is arena, but there is something to Vanilla PvP thatās super fun.
Itās not the big crits because I donāt even see those, I play with the numbers turned off because Iām a minimalist in terms of UI.
What I like about classic vanilla PvP is that itās super fast paced and that makes the BGās very very fun, even if vs a full zugzug itās still fun because I can kill enemies regardless of their gear or class.
In more modern slower versions of wow itās not possible for an under geared player whoās actually half decent to have any chance of killing me, but in classic give that man some blue 1.8 daggers and cadaverous armor and heās simply lethal regardless of the fact that I have T1, T2, or even T3.
I think that state of play where anyone is dangerous is a better game style, itās actually why Wrath and MoP had the best arena in late seasons, because it was so brutally fast.
The mistake was slowing the game down for players with terrible reaction times, because it did not bring the game closer to them, it only delayed the inevitable death by faster better players.
Iām a chess kind of guy, so Iām really excited for bc arena again.
