Why player housing won't work

Oh great so when Im exploring the open world I’m going to get a bunch of useless furniture for a feature Ill never use.

Wrong.

Timesplitters 2. Thats what we need.

Custom dungons and custom BGs you can share with your friends.

Remind people that WoW is gameplay focused. And thats why its the king of MMOs.

how do you play with all those tears on your keyboard? :frowning:

I dont play WoW.

They’ll pay $90 for the REALLY cool one.

I’d go for that, WS was great.

Me neither! I just pay for the sub for forum banter.

i think it will be fine if its as basic as themed templates where we can customize achievement based preset decorations.

Doesnt need to be too complicated or fancy. For me even garrison 2.0 is good enough

the only thing different about FFXIV is they try to create a neighborhood feel with housing as in you can live next door to your friend and chat across the fence like you are Tim Allen from Home Improvement.

My fear is that they’re going to treat this “feature” just like they did Order Halls and Garrisons, a one-shot throwaway that should have been an evergreen feature that would grow with future expansions, and is instead just another wasted opportunity from a company that has no forward thinking vision.

It’s been like that in any mmo of even any game. Can’t make everyone happy

If I cannot have a compound made entirely of shipping containers I don’t want player housing. I want my prepper fortress please.

I love my apartment in SWTOR.

Our guild hall is a Star Destroyer!

It’s a bit premature to be saying anything about how this will, or won’t, work.

They just need to make sure they dont isolate people to their homes by making housing to useful. Also making sure other people can to a degree see the outside of their house because theres nothing gamers like more then showing off something cool to other people in game.

It’s an evergreen feature. They’ll have as long as WoW exists to fine-tune it and add more features. Chill. :joy:

Can’t we just stop worrying and let ourselves be excited? Just this one time?

Sure it might not be what every single person’s vision for personal housing is… but we know literally nothing about it so worrying about that isn’t worth the effort.

Someone finally said the correct thing!

I’m not sure the WoW engine can handle the Wildstar housing system, but if it can… that would be the superior way to do it imo

This is a pretty insane argument. You could take any system they have introduced, whether the players requested it or not, and apply your argument as to why it will never happen. But each system did and so will player housing.

People will complain no matter what is done or not done. But the thing, when we say “people” it is a minority. A small vocal group complain about literally everything. The majority of us will be pleased with the introduction of a basic housing system that they can iterate on over the years - because we have a brain and patience.

They are relevant mmos, especially Swtor has half a decade with housing and is very similar to WOW
