Why play a pvp server?

I played on the Servers my friends started on. PvE and much later, an RP.

Both times those friends eventually wished we were on a PvP server.

Ill be on a PvP server for sure, as I want the full experience, good, bad, frustrating. All of it.

Not being a wuss is one big reason.

You should play on a PVP server because it aint vanilla wow unless you get corpse camped in STV by a rogue 5 levels higher than you for 3 hours.

Well I’m not going to play on a PvE server because I don’t really find the concept of seeing the enemy faction on my land and not being able to do anything about it. It takes the war out of world of warcraft.

I honestly don’t care if I get nowhere in a play session in terms of experience money, or gear because if that’s the only reason you are finding the game fun is because you’re getting those things then I fail to see why you would even need to play WoW in the first place.

PvP = Chad, PvE = beta
Carebears please stay on your servers.

I’m going to disagree on that one. You didn’t have arenas or like rated bgs and stuff like that, so world pvp was pretty big part of PvP player’s life. If they hear of a fight, they’re going for it.

And I’d also say crossrealm and sharding ruined that, even if you log your main, you might get into different shard than your alt and not see person ganking you. Overall, sharding and crossrealm is absolute trash.

Interestingly said, though in Vanilla raid logging wasn’t really around it was more “I’m payin 15 usd out of this IM GETTING MY MONEYS WORTH” Though raid logging is huge on PVE servers as well.

I do wonder if this’ll be the mindset for classic as it hurts the game. I myself, always come to the rescues of people when i can, if i’m in the zone or not doing a dungi eyeing world etc. Did so on P server but i’m only one person, it really depends on the community.

As another poster above me said he was from KJ in Vanilla… It was very cut throat, but PVP ties last you way longer then PVE ones i feel, At least world PVP ties have.

The main ‘PvP’ proponent in this thread uses alt codes in it’s name. That alone should provide all the insight you need to understand PvP servers.

If you seek true player versus player (not player against player) battles, roll on a PvE server.

Not about to convert this into a crz and sharding is trash convo. I played on a PvP server (KJ) all through vanilla and TBC. The wPvP happened all over the place.

High levels leaving their wPvP at the beck and call of some level 30’s in STV, however, did not happen often.

Yeah, about that. There’s a ton of other things needing to be done to be raid ready. Spending that $15 a month on helping low levels isn’t high on that list.

Sure does, but if you’re smart enough, nd know time management you can find time if you want, I was more then able too. and at a certian point can kill a ton of time as well. On P servers people raid log all the time since they farmed SO MANY mats so early on they never need to again till naxx. This happend to a lot of guilds in Nost pre AQ.

An example is you don’t actually need to farm many comsumes till AQ 40, unless you’re speed running BWL etc.

Something carebears don’t get either is that all pvp on a pvp server is by nature, consensual.

Carebear: Oh god a I got ganked! Rabble rabble rabble!
PvP server player: No, you got what what you signed up for, on a pvp realm

Carebear: That ganker is a jerk! It’s all his fault I’m not having fun!
PvP server player: No, he’s giving you the world PvP you signed up for… It’s you’re own damn fault if you aren’t leveled/geared/skilled/aware enough to murder him for trying. If anything you should be thanking him for showing you how you are deficient in one of those areas and him thinking you where worth attacking at all.

The weird thing here is so many you carebears have this stigma about pvpers just assuming we’re all rolling lvl 60 raid geared rogues just to sit around camping Nesingwary’s /Lakeshire/Ashenvale/ whatever other lowbie zone… That stuff exists, but it’s hardly the majority of WPvP. I personally rarely/almost never kill a super low level, simply because they aren’t worth the time it takes to 1 shot them… The times that I do kill them, often come as a result of them getting in one of my alt’s way as it’s leveling and my main making it very clear that they aren’t welcome. Hell even actual same level pvp doesn’t always happen when opposing factions cross one another… and you can get a cold war-esque detente where you both go about your business, but always keeping one eye open in case the other does ANYTHING to even remotely provoke you going nuclear on them. Other times, I’ll murder opposing faction people just to assert my territorial rights over a quest mob spawn location. They want to get those mobs before I do, they’re going to have to do it over my dead body (literally)

The whole “NONSTOP GANKING, ZOMG, HUMAN SACRIFICE, CATS AND DOGS LIVING TOGETHER. MASS HYSTERIA!!” Narrative is just absurd. POAPS (Pvp On A Pvp Server) happens… most of you carebears make a way bigger deal out of it than it really is.

…You serious? That’s hilarious. Always found it rather funny that some people needs to flex and try and assert themselves in a videogame. I guess if you can’t in real life, a videogame is the next best thing :joy:

ps: Don’t take it too seriously, it’s a game after all, on multiply levels

Lol at comparing a game with health bars and levels to real life fight or flight instincts…

PVP servers do add an extra layer of fun and when you get into a relatively balanced fight with multiple people it’s probably one of the best times the game can offer imo. That said, you have to be prepared to be camped for no reason every now and then by some bottom feeder who was bullied at school.
You also have to be prepared to have your plans changed; if you turn up at Nesingwary’s thinking you’re going to solo some quests and there’s a group of 5 from the opposite faction thinking the same thing, you’re going to want to go somewhere else. This is exacerbated on unbalanced servers.
It’s a pretty rare 60 that will run from BB to Nesingwary’s to help as well in my experience.

PVE servers have their downsides too although my experience on RP servers was many times better than that of normal pve servers as far as wpvp goes. We still got plenty of action back in the day running around flagged and you could bait people into pvp pretty easily. I don’t really recall people waiting to de-flag that often but then I never really kill the same person more than once without good reason.
When someone comes and snakes your node you can’t kill them if they’re not flagged but that seems to happen with my own faction just as much these days anyway

Nice projecting, have anything you want to talk about? Big PvE server plans?

In fact I do. Already said that earlier. Guess you didn’t read the whole thread.

755 posts and you read entire pointless threads? That’s a yikes from me.

We all have our differences shrug To be or not to be informed…

Pretty sure the chad/beta thing was a joke there bud.

Guess you didn’t bother quote the ps I left? Here, I do it for you;

You are chastising someone for reading the entire discussion BEFORE taking part in it?

That’s new…
