This guy get’s it.
Just as a general FYI, the word subjective is what you’re looking for. I’m glad you are specifying whether something is your opinion or not, that’s helpful in communication and is a frequent problem. Thanks.
When you say, “this is objectively better, in my opinion,” you are actually giving your subjective opinion.
So basically adding the word objectively when talking about your own opinion is superfluous. Everyone already assumes that it is a subjective preference, and that in your opinion it is objectively better.
I like that it isn’t as cleaned up as modern wow. Things were made too tidy and that puts a real damper on some of the psudo-griefing i enjoy. Some of it is more of an enjoyable adventure for other players in my experience though.
10man raids just became officer runs that left out the rest of their guild where they got to go to 2 raids per week rather than one. They geared up faster than the rest and it put everyone in the guild on uneven footing. That it can foster elitism is only one problem with different levels of raid.
Why do I play Classic? One of the reasons is I know there is an ending point and I do not have to rush. I take my time, get my quests done, work on professions, go fishing, go pvp while questing, do whatever I feel is fun at the moment.
Comparing to when I played Retail, things change so much from patch to patch and expansion to expansion. It just felt like I needed to rush through content to catch up. I was speeding through everything to stay relevant. I came back when Classic was announced and still felt like I never caught up with the Legion content and if you look at my character I am no where caught up with BFA content.
You are basically saying classic is hard because you opt out of the hard content in retail. Nothing in classic is hard. It just takes more time.
Again, I’ve explained to you that we mean different things by difficulty. I mean RPG type gameplay which requires risk and yes, time.
And once again, no one is claiming the game is difficult. I’m claiming it is more difficult. It can still be easy even if it is more difficult than retail.
Perhaps it would help if we specify what area of the game we are discussing.
Questing in classic is significantly harder than questing in Retail. It requires more time, more attention, and results in far more deaths due to luck.
Leveling dungeons in classic are significantly harder, requiring more attention, more time, and results in more deaths due to luck.
End game dungeons in retail are significantly harder than classic, requiring far more attention, reaction speed, and precision (mythics).
Raiding in retail is significantly harder than in classic, requiring more precision, faster reactions, better memory, and closer attention (mythic).
Note that the usage of difficulty changes in those claims.
And yes, I do opt out of the difficult content in retail. It is perfectly legitimate for me to ask that challenge be put into the content I enjoy.
Questing is slower in classic, not harder. It doesn’t take more skill to wait to drink up, just patience. And I would hardly call aoe cleaving leveling dungeons hard.
No question there, although I suspect plenty of guilds would want to foster elitism.
Yet again, we are not discussing whether something is difficult or not. We are discussing whether it is difficult relative to something else.
You may not find cleaving difficult, others may. Frankly the huge cluster fudge of bars and spell effects would be pretty challenging for me to sort through to interrupt properly Etc.
At this point you’re either unwilling or unable to discern the distinction I’m drawing between our notions of difficulty.
Be well.
Forgive me if I don’t lend credence to the notion of changing definitions to suit your argument.
Unwilling, then. I had hoped for better. And to project your tantrums on to another strains even my pity and tolerance.
I must thank you, I suppose, for bringing me to and beyond the limits of my empathy. I truly am disgusted.
I like the diversity. Toons are specialized not homoginized. Also as a mage I like the diversity in build options and to be an actual cannon, albeit a paper one.
This also makes putting together a group more interesting. IMO
I like classic because there are lots of other people out and around in the world, not clustered in one zone. It feels alive.
