Why people play classic?

Obviously no one is talking about mechanical difficulty. The amount of of mechanics in Retail is objectively higher than classic.

As many constantly make clear, we mean that the leveling process requires more of your attention planning and strategy, in an RPG gameplay sense.

You don’t have to call this difficulty if you don’t want, but everyone else does.

because retail sucks.retail is nothing more then a rng lootbox at the end of the week unless you heroic raid sicne mythic is to hard for people.

No they don’t, only people clinging to vanilla being something more than it was. The difficulty was leagues lower than mid-high end retail gameplay.

Classic/retail was never and is not hard by any stretch.

I swear I’ve seen thousands of people claiming to have played the vanilla beta. I can’t believe every single person that has played the beta is still around.

From some of those same people’s follow-up comments, I can say with the utmost confidence that most of them are lying.

It’s easy to claim you’ve been around that long in hopes that it will make your comment mean more or be held in higher regard. However, when you claim you’ve played since beta then proceed to say 1) When you raided in vanilla, Bloodlust was invaluable. 2) You leveled through BGs. or… 3) You earned a certain achievement…

Some people just want to to belong, I guess.

Wrong. The purpose of a game is to entertain you.

If you find anything else in it appealing, such as finding it a challenge, good for you.

… are delicious.

FWIW, not everyone is a math genius! 13 years, 15 years, they are both a long time ago, math genius

Pretty sure he/she meant more then 1 button auto attack/wand attack classes.

But at least there IS a rotation. It’s sad but that’s how it’ll always be with Classic.

I haven’t the time to escort you to the evidence, you’ll simply have to catch up on your reading. Any thread about challenge or difficulty would be a good place to start, although it crops up everywhere.

Sounds like you didn’t play retail. I did, I’ve had a max level character in every expansion except this latest one. I think. I can assure you nothing below max level including dungeons even approached shadowfang keep or Silver Pine level.

You can of course manufacture your own difficulty, and I did. My greatest opponent was the leash distance. It was frequently challenging to find enough enemies close enough together to generate enough challenge to be fun.

You can actually test this yourself right now.

And secondly, no one is claiming the game is difficult. We are claiming it is more difficult. 95% of Warcraft has never even reached the level of Mario in terms of actual difficulty.

I played retail and vanilla, this is a launch character and I server first BWL when it was buggy and broken. It was never hard, retail is way more difficult if you attempt the content that is difficult.

Get out of here with your “sounds like you didn’t play retail” ad hom garbage.

Classic is about leveling. Retail is about raiding. If you like the trip from 1-60, play Classic. If you just want to raid, play Retail. It remains to be seen how many people realize this distinction, and jump ship after hitting 60.

What the… Paul said he was combing his hair. I wondered where he really went…

Why do I play?

Grouping up with people, sense of accomplishment when leveling. I just enjoy the playstyle of WoW Classic over Retail. Is that so wrong?

No artifact mounts: I can’t stand the buzzkill in a starting zone when some punk kid sputs through on one of those dirt bikes. What a horrible choice they made for a heirloom mount.

one word, Midiclorians…ruined Star Wars fantasy

I like the last part, I have in the past looked up to many other players until now where i do not get the same players in groups anymore.

Glad to hear you’re on the lookout for fallacies, but you’ve missed mine. The implication that you were lazy was the ad hominem, the implication that you may have missed retail gameplay was simply assuming ignorance.

“If you attempt the content that is difficult,” is the crux. As I outlined, you’re definitely right that challenge can be manufactured. However if we don’t like end game raiding or super twitch five mans, we are simply out of luck.

Classic places that difficulty squarely in our chosen gameplay.

Easy (This answer only concerns me) :

Retail is better than classic. (Gameplay, dungeons, raids, professions. Everything basically)

BUT : I don’t like my progression being “soft reset” every big patch. Any progression has no interest. “Cool, new 1545 levels of AP to farm”.

Retail lost RPG part of MMORPG. It’s the only reason I’m playing classic. I like to spend 4 hours on a quest I know is useless, but I still want to complete it.
