They should have been expanded upon. There I said it.
We theoretically should have one on every continent at this point.

The origin of âitâll cost ya a raid tierâ
In all seriousness, I level almost every character through Draenor, and my alts almost always park in their respective garrisons. At level 3, they are pretty awesome. Blizz really did drop the ball on them though
At this point, itâs nearly a ten year old feature. If theyâre going to go down a player housing track, I would prefer they start from scratch.
I use mine everydayâŠvia the phone app. No forums until I send out the troops But a couple times a week I visit all 10. Still averaging ~450g/day each.
i have no interest in player housing at all, but garrisons were not remotely player housing
For the former:
At the start of the Magâhar recruitment scenario, Eitrigg and Sylvanas discuss the possibility of revisiting AU Draenor, but since Azerothâs connection to it was severed, they needed to use a fragment of the Vision of Time that Kairoz and Garrosh had originally used, and attune it to the lingering essences of Garrosh, Zaela, and Gulâdan to power it for one jump to and from Draenor.
For the latter:
While the Chronicles books are tenuous, one of them mentions that alternate timelines are naturally unstable and will eventually dissipate if left alone. In order for an alternate timeline to persist, an effort has to be made to sustain and preserve them. As for the Magâhar questline, we travel there and find that time seemingly ran significantly faster while we were gone (IIRC, something like 30 or 40 years have passed). The world is apparently dying, and the Orcs blame the Draenei for spreading the Light, while the Draenei blame the Orcs for their industrialism (building trains and such), but thereâs a possibility that itâs also dying because itâs literally fading away.
Basically, as I see it, AU Draenor is closed off, and until someone finds another fragment of the Vision and empowers it the same way (assuming the essence we used wasnât the only essence in each location), it might be for good. And even if we could bridge the gap again, the gap between the start of BfA and the current time is much larger than the gap between the end of WoD and the start of BfA, meaning AU Draenor could be another 70-80 years older if it still even exists. Perhaps the Infinites could salvage it and be the catalyst for Yrel joining the MU, but weâll only know if and when it happens.
Ah, I never play Horde chars so I didnât know there was a lot more that went into the Magâhar recruitment. Interesting tidbit for sure, thanks for that!
To be fair though, I donât recall anything/anyone saying that the portal to AU Draenor was gonna close off at the end of WoD, and that the timeline was gonna fade out. Even if something like that is mentioned in outside sources like Chronicle, itâd be nice to have a small nod of acknowledgement in-game too.
Give it the old Dalaran treatment.
Actually, they moved Dalaran 2x
we also donât have a way to even resume operations on Draenor if we wanted to.
Looks at garrison hearthstone
You are not real. Iʻm just imagining you.
the Doctor Who tie-in promotion.
Garrisons can move and for $10 you can add one of the Doctorâs companions to your mission table followers. (Bonus sonic screwdriver tmog only available with 6 month sub)
Why not revisit just briefly such an asset?
wow, now that i think of it⊠looking back on it with your statement in mind, garrisons really are player housing!
looks like we are all going to be satisfied and we no longer need to ask blizzard for player housing since we have our lovely garrisons!
this is such a great revelation!
i hope you have a wonderful day, friend
Probably because the housing that players desire is heavy in customization; being able to do things like freely placing buildings and furniture, choosing colors and architectural styles, changing the shape and size of buildings, while making a whole market with the assets you create for it.
Garrisons have fixed plots and pre-rendered building, with no ability to do anything to the buildings themselves. Something like that would need a overhauled system.
Probably because that version of Draenor done blowed up. Canonically.
Plus, even if it didnât, I donât want to go to another world in an alternate universe to visit whatâs supposed to be my home. As a tauren, my home would be in Mulgore.
Convert them to guild forts.
âŠmany still use them?
In between doing quests that is where a stay, you can goto anywhere from there, and if you have both garrison inn it is now in the toy box and the hearth stone for navel battles or if you need to level toons as a one shot area and you still can make gold easy enough.
Theyâre not that close to housing tbh.
People didnt like the mission table the garrison has everything a town does. Where do all of you contrarian trolls come from? Like you donât even read the reasoning
contrarian trolls
Itâs not contrarian or trolling to point out that a feature thatâs permanently attached to an expansion from almost a decade ago is unlikely to ever be touched again, you blithering tool.
Like you donât even read the reasoning
There is no majority of people still regularly using their garrisons four expansions later for Blizzard to take notice and revisit the feature in the future. As for people who want housing, they want real housing, and will often get indignant if garrisons are provided as an alternative.
Garrisons is not Player Housing
