Why Not Transmog?

It’s not like looking like a clown because none of your gear matches is a problem that only came about after Vanilla. On the contrary, the only other period that can even contend with Vanilla for the “Stupidest-Looking Average Player Characters” trophy is BC, because there was no cohesion to any quest rewards or dungeon loot aside from full on Sets, most of which were endgame loot, and the rest of which you would level out of. Looking like an idiot until you collect a full tier set that you will then never change out of is not really my idea of an amazing fantasy adventure.

It can’t be for keeping top end appearances out of the hands of the filthy masses, because that’s as simple to fix as not letting appearances collected in Retail apply to the Classic wardrobe. Anyone mogging T2 in Classic would still have had to actually acquire T2 in Classic.

I doubt it’s the economy. The reason low level green items in Retail can be posted for such exhoribitant prices is because of the massive gold inflation that’s happened over multiple expansions, most notably during WoD and its poorly conceived garrison gold missions. Auction prices in Classic will inevitably be much lower simply because Classic won’t have even a fraction as much gold in players’ hands to begin with. No one’s going to pay 20k gold for those platekini legs because no one has 20k gold, period.

At the bare minimum, couldn’t items we acquire in Classic be applied to our Retail wardrobes, even if Classic itself doesn’t have transmog? It would be one of the easiest ways to bring back dozens of items whose appearances were lost in the Cataclysm old world revamp like the Blackened Defias Leather set. A full set of Blackened Defias Leather was not a particularly impressive feat by the time it was removed from the game; it’s just that no one knew they needed to keep devoting their limited bank space to something they might put on to wear around town once in a blue moon because its stats would get their level 80+ character killed trying to actually play the game in it until a year and a half later when Transmog was announced.

Same reason there’s no LFR/LFG, CRZ, or AoE looting: it wasn’t in Vanilla.

This is the ONLY change I would like to see in classic, but I doubt it will ever happen.

I agree looking stupid sucks but what can you do…

I’m extremely excited to wear completely mismatched gear of whatever scraps I find in dungeons. Everyone running around looking like a total badass takes away from the “we’re all just a bunch of lowly adventurers” feel

I don’t understand the reason to have transmog, I personally don’t really like or care of it but if you want transmog you still can play retail wow to have transmog

Gee… it is like they were encouraging people to try and get these full sets cause they looked so good. What villains!!! In any case, transmog in Classic will just be simply having some gear take up bag/bank space for when your not doing anything important. You still have to get the gear in the first place… kind of like Transmog does in Retail /gasp

Because you’ll get people needing on items they don’t need just for transmog.

Its cool man. At least you have values. Can’t dislike somebody because they like something. The problem only occurs when a small group pushes an agenda on others if you know what I mean.

OP, as a roleplayer I feel you, but there’s something you need to know…

1.) The “clown shoes” problem was a LOT less pronounced in Vanilla than it was in TBC.

2.) Asking for things that were not in Vanilla just becase we happen to like them is not going to endear us to pretty much anyone around here.

Just hold onto the pieces you think look good in your bank and dress up in your free time
mind boggling ain’t it

Why not transmog?

Let me tell you why.

Adding transmog to Classic would attract an overabundance of players who think how their character looks actually matters. An overabundance of players with that mindset would turn the beauty of Classic into a garbage game like retail.

That’s why.

Honestly, I always felt like this is what made dungeon and tier sets special. You went from being a ragtag peon to a bad@$$ hero in this amazing gear. It really gave the sense of making it somewhere in the game.

Eh… how your character looks DOES matter.

On an RP server, anyway.
