I mean everyone is different. Whales spend boatloads though, it’s actually disgusting. Some of them are willing to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars regularly. It depends more on how much they will spend before they give up on getting all their slots decks than anything.
I don’t say this any of this with any joy either, but you’re crazy if you think they’re ever going to increase the sub price. Plenty of MMOs have no cheap or no sub cost with smaller playerbases and thrive off their profit model through other means.
Also I didn’t say world content rewards don’t matter, but I am pointing out that anyone not dumping money into the game via the cash shop or wow token isn’t their target audience any more.
Given that the thread title is asking for high level gear, and the currently available solo gear is higher than normal raid ilevel, that seems like a pretty safe assumption. But feel free to actually say what ilevel solo content should award. (not going to say casual because 1 m+ a week is very casual and can put you in high ilevel stuff.)
Let’s just go to a system where world content will never give anyone a reward better than a blue(incl. world bosses). Dungeons, yes incl m+, will give subpar gear to raiding. Not even going to go into PvP because blizzard has shown they don’t care about that.
And that’s the reward for you working harder than me. Doing rated stuff while I work, play with my kids, eat dinner with my family and do 1 bg a week. You worked for it bro.
While I agree with your sentiment, I disagree with the path to its acquisition.
I think casuals should have a path to the highest ilevel gear via grinding out a currency for upgrading gear. (With Korthia gear as a good template that should’ve been upgradeable to 252)
Raiding and M+ should always be the fastest/most efficient way to get gear, but casuals should be able to upgrade gear to be on-par with those activities in exchange for time.
No gatekeeping.
Do the work; get the gear. (Just nowhere as fast as the raiders/m+)
Now that I’m off my high horse, knee-jerk reaction I’d rather be more clear.
This statement is condescending and dismissed anyone that prefers that content. But, I do understand you were replying to OP when I just dropped into the conversation, unfortunately seeing this first.
This is a game with a story. How I or others choose to play it doesn’t mean the some of the content is not difficult or that it drops appropriate loot. Just as your way of playing is more satisfying to you, playing content and story is satisfying to others. By saying it’s trivial you might as well be saying it’s a waste of my time to play at all part of the way the game was intended. (perilously close to the “git gud or leave” oft repeated admonition.)
Example:
Throughout this thread I’ve seen comments saying, in effect, “we shouldn’t change the game for your playstyle.” May I say it cuts both ways.
They are.
Don’t know why I let myself get sucked in again. My brain isn’t optimum or my body today. I read “changing the game for you” as insulting. Or lack of success… which is such a big assumption. To me that would mean taking my RA and anxiety (or other disabilities) into account over everyone else to change the game for me - which would be wrong.
I guess I’m trying to understand that for the first time since Mists I can’t (main bmhunter) keep her gear up enough for “some” of openworld content. It has gotten easier in Korthia, but almost too easy.
I acknowledge the thread took an abrupt turn after the first few responses. This post is unnecessary as well. Just wishing everyone would support a different game style is never going to happen.
An interesting thought. And it’s true that you don’t NEED higher level gear to do certain tasks… but what if he WANTS higher level gear? His options are obviously limited, so, what should he do? If he doesn’t get new gear or rewards, then what should he do with his time? Should he just stop playing the game?
