Why nobody plays Tank, and why Tanks deserve to get Buffed

Tanks caring about dps at all besides having enough to consistently hold threat is just odd to me; unless one tank is just doing stupidly more and it becomes a meta problem with that one tank being the only viable one cause timers and enrage.
Like all the longstanding tanks i know got their fun from surviving stupid things.

  • Off tank died, well lets see if i can take 10 stacks of the taunt swap til they brez

  • Dps pulled an extra pack, well i have cooldowns up so lets go

  • I wonder how long i can stand in the deathbeam

That kinda stuff was their push. Damage being a part of the conversation probably means blizz let them do to much at one point or dps players want faster ques but to keep fighting for meter spots.

That’s one way to get more tank characters willing to apply to keys, but not necessarily more tank players capable of completing them. Your solution could wind up making things even worse, lol.

I mean yes and no. Healers probably frequently carry dps who need heals from avoidable damage, or they don’t interrupt casts, stun, stop etc.

At higher levels of content it becomes more apparent when they are not doing their entire jobs. At lower levels of content they might be able to get away with not playing as a team, & the healers will just have to step it up and overcome the issues.

the only way to get people more capable of completing them is through experience and this would give the incentive for them to try, and with the reward only from completion it incentivized them to stay and learn.

I mean, everytime I lead and pull a tank poops his diapy…

this idea has gone out the window. get over it.

fixed it for you

They should re-add Vengeance from MoP so tanks can do good damage, but only if they’re actually tanking, that way you don’t just stack a bunch of tanks.

while im sure some people feel that way most of the tanks i talk to prefer not to tank raid because its so freaking boring. my raid for instance has several people who tank m+ as their main but prefer to dps in raid. we actually have to argue about who will tank when one of our main tanks step out.

then lets see these high defense dps tank a raid then.

we literally had two fury warrior’s finish out 10% of a boss in the new raid when our tanks did a dumb. its also their defensives that allow groups to not take a healer in m+. like this isnt contested and many people are calling for their nerfs.

It’s what I like to call tank main character syndrome. The argument is literally that they shouldn’t have to rely on the healer to heal. It’s absurd.

Tank are just really really really really boring DPS.

Tanks have the same issues that healers do, in that tanks are expected to contribute significantly to dps in addition to their other duties. And in doing so, many of the specs are no less involved than dps specs (for example, prot has just as many if not more keybinds than fury does)

Having said that, the perks are innate. Lower queue times and higher demand for groups, less comp for things like weapons, etc

Also we dont have shaman tanks despite that being a fav among SoD gamers. So just add shaman tank to wow and make it op and well.see more tank players for sure

I think you’re playing a different game.

You can switch spec at a press of a button.

As someone who also tank I disagree with the OP.

it’s tough. wouldnt take that much for tanks to be able to solo everything, and they would if they could

wouldnt fix the tank draught if they all started playing by themselves would it lol

For the record, I do not. We should be a shield, not the sword, of the group. We don’t need to be gods at DPS, nor should we be. We should also need to have a healer, not heal ourselves into oblivion.

God mode in every game has always been boring. We rightfully needed to be nerfed.

I love tanking. What I don’t love is the BS in pugs. Players are the main reason there are so few tanks in pugs.
