Why no Voodoo Themed Class or Specs?

You always hear the Trolls talkin about “da voodoo” but there are no classes or specs that actually utilize “da voodoo”. What gives? Seems like a pretty big source of power to overlook.

Idk, just bored lol. Would be a really cool theme for a class or spec though.

They say “stay away from da voodoo” and we do

Shamans are voodoo, dummy. Or at least we were until Blizzard took away our voodoo in favor of making us mage-lites.

Actually just yesterday, I heard one say that they gotta use the voodoo sometimes.

I think they avoid it in game to avoid stepping on the toes of people that follow it.

Hazbin Hotel had a recent “controversy” that had people point out the serial killer from louisiana had glitchy voodoo symbols show up around them. I still get mixed messages from folks about that. Some say there’s no good voodoo. Some say there is.

I always thought Shamans needed more of the spirit aspect in their toolkit. We have wolves, hex, and a rez.

You have to stay away from the voodoo, or so the trolls say.

I think it would be strange to have a class that only applies to one race in the game

Okay yeah so demon hunters are only on 2 races, but I don’t like that either

No, this is incorrect. They literally have nothing in common with voodoo except for maybe the “Hex” spell. Voodoo is more themed around black magic & death. Shamans are themed around the forces of nature, “dummy”… Not sure why you resorted to name calling but I dont appreciate it.

Some say “come get de voodoo”, or so I’ve heard it as.
I’ve always thought of the shadow priests and warlocks being the voodoo users.

Wouldnt that just be shamans?

Na, Shamans are themed around the forces of nature. Voodoo is all black magic & death. Pretty big difference, imo.

There’s good Voodoo.

In fact, the “zombies” and dark magic aspect of Vudou mostly came from slave owners, trying to criminalize and alienate the religion. None of that stuff is actually a part of Vudou, bit’s just, unfortunately, been tacked on thanks to Old time Christianity. A similar thing happened to Witchcraft.

To the topic on hand, Shaman are the “vudou” class, as are troll priest.

It was dummy in the most endearing way, don’t worry.

And I dunno, maybe a Warlock is more what you’re looking for?

I always assumed that “da voodoo” was just troll shamans, aka Hexxers.

Oh I get ya it’s just even when trying to read what actual practitioners thought about it A LOT of mixed messages were around

I agree. Make shadow hunters a playable class.

Says the warlock. We’re on to you and your curses.

I think part of the reason for the confusion is that death DOES have a fairly important part in a lot of voodoo, but culturally death isn’t seen as being this “dark evil thing” the way it is in ours. they have a different cultural and religious relationship with the concept of death and everything surrounding it, which in our (almost absurdly) death averse culture, feels kinda scary and wrong. but thats mostly because we have tried to divorce ourselves from anything to do with it. we try and sterilize it and ignore it as much as possible, while they welcome it and celebrate it as part of life.

Really if you think about it, there are no “witch” classes or specs either. I think a full on Witch class with different specs one of which, being “Voodoo” could be really cool. The xmog options made for a class like that would be amazing, imo. Perhaps it could have a healing spec dubbed as “Witch Doctor”.
