Are there enough for a certain number of PVP servers?

Those are also questions.
Think you will reach your goal of 10k by the weekend?

Depends on the “certain number”. 1? Most definitely.
Not my goal, and unlikely. There’s a new story on Retail to look at, before getting bored again after a few days.
One example is to use “max level” toon counts. And RP was generally 2x RP-PVP, pre BFA.
Eh, World PVP wasn’t the same thing in BC is my problem, and more so + cata. It’s not really as part of the world as it was in Vanilla. Sorta why i want to see those numbers back then but only Blizzard would have that data if they event kept it.
WarcraftRealms might but they don’t really have a way to look without using Wayback.
Considering the RP rules (vanilla rules as stated) were basically never fully enforced or realized, and that RP-enforcement dropped heavily in Cata and has declined to basically no-enforcement now, I just don’t think they want to maintain RP realms at all anymore, and if it wasn’t for an even more massive backlash I doubt they even want to bother with PVE RP realms, but just have to.
They want to lean out their GM team anyway and actually enforcing an RP-PVP realm or realms likely isn’t in the cards, whether we get one or not.
The Vanilla roleplaying policy prohibited OOC text in public channels, /say, /yell, and party chat. Only guild chat was would “not be policed.” And the naming policy specifically stated that any ‘non-medieval or non-fantasy’ names would be assigned a randomly generated name—not a generous free change to whatever you want.
These rules proved unenforceable from the start and RP realms were never really quite what Blizzard envisioned. Looking at their progression starting w/ the stated ruleset to the ever-more-lax enforcements to now exclusion of RP-PVP altogether, I’d venture to say that there’s a level of frustration on Blizzard’s end and they potentially see an RP based realm rather than just RP based events on any realm as a failed experiment
Actually there was no Back-lash for RP servers, and i’m sure RP-PVP servers can police themselves as they have done in the past.
I didn’t say there was a backlash for RP servers, I said that if they didn’t release RP-PVE servers there would be even more backlash
My mistake! But you’re probably right about the GM’s wanting to be hands off which is a good thing, community enforcement with representation is great. and from the stress test we may only even get one RP servers but only time will tell will the server list actually comes rolling about. It does make you wonder, how much more push back they would get if they just said no to all RP servers.
It would inherently force RP players to self-organize—to find eachother outside of the game and try to congregate on the same servers for self-policed events. Theoretically it could mean that there could be RP on any realm, but would likely just make a bigger mess of everything.
Its quite similar to how they’re doing EU realms without breakouts for language. By forcing players to self-designate german, French, etc realms you’ll still have realms that are over-taken by a dominant language, and only those poor unsuspecting players who failed to coordinate outside of game get left out when they realize trade-chat is all foreign.
Better for language, better for RP—better for Blizz to designate even if its underutilized or misutilized, because not doing so just forces a player-driven solution that inherently leaves out players who fail to use out-of-game resources to coordinate.
And yet RPPVP servers are known for being the most even factioned, even keeled, mature, cool server types that were opened. What was nice about the PVP part of RPPVP, is that players could actually take an active role in hunting down and making violator’s game time miserable. That option is not available on RPPVE servers.
But I have no doubt that Blizzard, at least Ion’s point of view is the way you lay it out. It appears he simply doesn’t care about this large group of his playerbase, doesn’t want to hear the demand for the server type, and hopes it will just blow over. It’s a part of the game he was never a part of, so doesn’t deserve any thought beyond his few seconds of banter with Lore.
Rp servers had a few extra rules of conduct, and if i recall right, you had to have “normal” names…
I agree with this mostly the problem is with Blizzard, and most games is that most people don’t use the forums or any other outlet but the game, sometimes the website or just google thing but a majority don’t. So even if people do self-organize there’s no way to get in touch with 90% of the people you’re trying to lead.
just roll on a rp server, the world pvp will still happen, and as roleplayers, just set up battles in advance, or raid the cities… the only thing you sorta cant do, or youd remove is that “ganking”, and to be honest, i never saw that as much of roleplay anyway, its very one sided roleplay
Wait so on an RP server that doesnt clarify that its PVE, its then a PVP server minus ganking? Cause like, thats literally what we’re upset about. Has it been confirmed that we’re getting this RP-PVPlite server that you describe?
Are there? This is the question.
Enough people to fill one server of each type? Definitely, without a doubt.
I dunno, we should probably have a poll of all players, past, present and future to be certain of that.
Gotta keep it lean after all. It would of course have to be an official blizzard poll, because we know how little we can trust 20k+ as a sample size to get an accurate fix.
RP servers have too many softies who hate anything to do with PVP and i hate none world flagging, they also don’t have a lot of it. Have you ever played on Moonguard and WRA and turned on warmode? Or a PVE server from BC Plus? No one flags.
We are not, we are fighting for a RP-PVP server. If not the RP-PVPers will split some going PVP some going RP
And the moment a RPPVP server opens in the future, the prior servers will be instagibbed.
