Why LGBT Representation matters

Why does it matter if anything gets represented or not?

It’s a video game so who cares who or what gets represented.

There isn’t enough cheese in the game they really should add some cheese representation. I think it’d be nice if blizz announced jaina as having a cheese addiction. It’d mean alot to all the cheese lovers

I mean come on

you fell for the conservative bait, they claim to be black, gay, whatever suits the situation and then they act offended and claim your the bad one when you don’t believe them. Don’t respond to cred claims like those, they are bait. Ignore em.

Yeah god forbid people have characters they can relate to.

The audacity.

The funniest part is you couldn’t be more wrong.

And I realise your message is the bait one that is designed to keep me biting so I’ll end this here.

To those who seek LGBTI representation in the game I feel bad for you. It took me a while to love myself but if I can do it you can do it too. Work on your relationship with yourselves. It’s the only true way to feel represented.

seriously all you ever hear is lgbtq this and that for last 8-10 years

There are a lot of things you can relate to, sexual orientation doesn’t have to be one of them. Do you think I can’t relate to a character if I don’t know what his orientation is?

You can, but people relate to things in different ways.

LGBTQ people exist whether you like it or not and it’s not a bad thing to have representation in a game and characters people can relate to.

Oh yeah because we can totally relate to talking cows and space goats right

In any video game or movie, people like to have something relatable or something they can relate to - What’s the point otherwise? Doesn’t make for very good characters if you can’t actually relate to them and typically LGBTQ people haven’t had much representation in the past.

I can totes relate to this vulpera rogue.

I am a humanoid fox IRL that goes around stabbing all manner of creatures, killing people left and right, without being arrested or put in jail. Also earth is currently under attack by old gods and the void.

So I totally relate to this character.

So companies should focus on making all characters be relatable in some way to every person in the world? That’s not the purpose of a video game. There are plenty of movies, tv shows, books and several video games that include those things, but it doesn’t have to be EVERYWHERE.

I’m talking about lore characters and established characters.

Edit: and those people exist… You kinda described a deer hunter lol

They don’t have to be relatable to everyone but any good or interesting character has to be somewhat relatable or have something interesting about them.

Are you saying its a bad thing for people to have relatable characters?

They are relatable. Most lore characters are strong leaders who are battling the current threat to the worlds existence.

Who they have sexual relations with doesn’t further the lore experience.

He’s saying only when the characters are LGBTQIA+ is it bad.

I think there’s a word for that.

Which they do. Sexual orientation isn’t a requirement for an interesting character or relatability.

Sure it does. People out there can say, “hey look they’re a strong, independant character and they’re gay just like I am!”

That’s relatable.

It’s not just about sexual relations you know.

It’s not a requirement but it’s nice to have recognition and acknowledgement that yes, LGBTQ people do exist.

Don’t get me wrong, it shouldn’t be shoehorned in but if it works with the story and its part of the character then why not?

It is actually. LGBTQIA+ characters are inherently more interesting than Straight™ ones.
