Why LGBT representation in games matters:

SO straight kids can’t be bullied because I sure in the hell remember being bullied when I was younger .

Do I remember people at school looking down at me because my parents were struggling to make sure we had food on the table .

Do I remember people looking at me like I was lazy and dumb because I had a hard time paying attention in class .This was before the terms ADD and ADHD came about .

I could throw some other stuff in there too . But I don’t let the past define me .

Yes a lot of that stuff may have happened to the LGBT community in the past and some may still but not to the extent it used to be . We have become more tolerant as a society . Most of us don’t care any more if you exist . You are just another person and like the rest of us there is nothing special about you . Being straight doesn’t make me special and being gay doesn’t make you .

And the world owes neither one of us jack.

I wasn’t going to respond but the sheer stupidity of your comment forces me to correct you.

Stop playing the victim card.

I never once said adding gay characters would ruin the game.

I said pushing a political agenda ruins the game.

But go on acting like my disagreement is some “punch in the stomach”

You’re playing the victim card and its pathetic.

I dont care what characters are added to the game so long as its not political and they have a proper reason for existing in the storyline.

Wrong. You keep building a strawman to hide behind. Just stop.

You are a hateful and hurtful person. You can’t accept LGBT in the game so you are actively harassing others who want more representation. You should feel ashamed.

When has ANY character been added into the game that was for political reasons? Again, you hide behind your strawman because your arguments are weak. You say you aren’t a homophobe but your posts say otherwise.

“Okay, what is YOUR definition of a Proper Reason? Give me a few examples that you feel would be a Proper Reason for a Gay Couple to be in the story?”

It adds to the story. The way the two deer in the night fae campaign do. Being gay isn’t thier defining feature. Being former night warriors is.

If a being gay is the only defining feature and the character being added is only because they’re gay and not to add to the story then it becomes political.

If a gay character is added then whatever. So long as the reason for thier existence in game isn’t only because they’re gay.

“So, if you walk into a pub, in game, and there happens to be two guys hugging each other, at a table, in one of the corners, would that be acceptable? Or is that too much? Just curious.”

I dont use the pubs in game but for arguments sake. Its not a problem so long as its not pushed into the players face every time they enter the pub.

But that’s not what’s being asked in these threads. What’s being asked nay demanded is a full main storyline character. Now if a gay storyline character is added then again whatever. So long as being gay isn’t thier defining feature and more of a cliff note that maybe gets referenced once or twice and then the character goes on to do what the writers wrote for them to do in the story.

Sure why not but only if they add a straight couple in the bar doing the same since there aren’t any of them in any of the taverns in the game.

“Why not some of the Known Characters? I love how they introduced Flynn and Shaw’s hidden truth. Coming out of the closet is a big thing for many LGBTs, and to have two main NPCs, in the game, represent this, is very uplifting for those players, imho.”

“I can’t remember where it was, but I HAVE seen a straight couple cuddling in a pub.”

In all the time I’ve played (since before Wrath Pre patch) I have not seen one and the only way I would see one would be if I intentionally went out of my way to find one.

SO you find out where they are and I will go look myself .

Have it be a side note and not the defining feature of the character.

If a main story character is gay have it be a brand new character and not some retcon of an existing one.

A brand new character who is gay but its not the defining feature is fine so long as the character has a personality outside of being gay.

Its impossible for blizz or anyone to write a gay character of any kind without it being the typical stereotype. So if another gay character is added, have being gay just be a cliff note in the characters backstory.

“It could have been anywhere. I love looking around places. I enjoy looking for speech bubbles, just to see what that NPC has to say. I enjoy taking in all I can. So I notice these things. I hope you run across them someday too. There are many things, in the game, that you will never see, unless you stop and look around.”

Much easier to explore and enjoy the world from the sky.

Hopefully 9.1 is released soon.

“I do both.”

“Why does it have to be a new Character? The way they did Flynn and Shaw was PERFECT, imho.”

You can’t win with these people. They just straight up hate us for existing.

They don’t want existing characters to be revealed to be LGBT, because to them “OMG THEY MADE THEM GAY TO PANDER!!!”

But they also don’t want new characters to be introduced as LGBT to take any spotlight because “OMG THEY ARE FORCING LGBT CHARACTERS DOWN OUR THROATS!!!”

They’re just homophobes, plain and simple.

“I’m just a Logical Earth Healer, that tries to find the middle ground. I want to heal the world, one heart at a time.”

“I don’t take sides ever. I believe in One Race, One Heart, One Earth.”

Talonel, not everything has to be sexual bro… and not everyone against making everything sexual is homophobic.

The fact that the top agenda with LGBTQ activists, is MAKE CHARACTERS MORE LIKE US. Well what does that even mean? What is a LGBTQ, outside of sexual preference?

Most people don’t relate this nonsense, because most people don’t wear sexuality as a badge, walk around with everywhere they go, stick it in people’s faces, and when people say “hey stop sticking that in my face”, you attack them for “hate speech”.

People don’t like the entrapment that comes with this stuff.

Most people usually agree with me when I say, if you want an LGBTQ centered game so much, go make one bro… nothing is stopping you from making your own thing. This is really the problem though isn’t it, you don’t want to make anything, you want to take what everyone else is already enjoying, and change it to make you happy.

Ever stop to think how disrespectful that comes across to people? A minority group, making demands from a majority, and when you get push back you somehow manage to be even ruder and start calling people names. barging into someone’s house and “demanding change” is not how you make friends, but it’s not about making friends is it.

Important lesson here folks, not everyone who disagrees = hate.
