I’m totally fine with Sylvanas as she is. What I’m more worried about is if they’re going to go with some hammy plot twist where she actually was the good guy all along in trying to somehow ultimately save Azeroth, which a leak claimed was going to be the case. And in hindsight, that leak was right about a surprising amount of things that has now been confirmed by Blizzard.
Yeah understanding Sylvanis as a well written villain and knowing her motivation makes her an amazing character if they try to make her have a redemption arc after this i might just go join the scarlet crusade and have myself a hand at genocide. You either die the raider or live long enough to see yourself become the raid boss type deal.
Are you trying to equate ditching a guild with killing people? lol
Sylvanas has caused a lot of destruction. But it’s not really intelligent to call her “evil” or “good”. She is a very complex character. Things are not as simple as black or white.
Yes some things are less wrong than others. I’m not getting into sin as that brings up religion. However societies, as a general rule have determined stealing is not as bad as murder. How you may ask have I come to this conclusion. Different punishments. Even the most barbaric societies generally only cut off a hand of a thief, but will kill a murderer. So yes their is a hierarchy of “sins”. I know you know this and aren’t really comparing thievery to genocide, but it’s fun nonetheless. Have a great evening…
I dug through poop in nagrand for a few gold pieces, my will has no bounds.
but did you eat the berries for the water breathing?
Don’t forget about the shredder keys in Hellfire Peninsula. That was felhound poop.
Causing widespread death and destruction is as black and white as it gets. I know it’s all the rage to take evil characters and make them more “complex” by showing another side to them, but there is a point of no return and Sylvanas has passed that point by a mile. Moral relativism is BS.
Flagged for spam.
I didn’t purposefully get a lot of people killed for their own gain before peacing out so this comparison is weak
We’re now in an IP now where the afterlife is fueled by souls that have to sacrifice their identities to authoritarian mechanical gods in order to not be sent to the Maw (or Hell) under normal circumstances. Nevermind the moral implication of a being Undead, being a Werewolf etc.
We are well beyond the moral relativism of death and destruction.
Yes. Okay, sure. believe as you wish
Sylvanas body is a vessel for the jailer to have dominion over the living realm for endless souls, while in exchange for her immortality. She doesn’t want to go to hell again. I believe her dialogue after saurfang and bolvar fight was his perspective talking.
The helm of damnation, now destroyed when there “always has to be a lich king” is azeroth version of the jailer. He told bolvar he is unfit because he plans on ruling both realms and when sylvanas says “I’ll free us all” just makes me believe it more. There must be balance and its now being thrown out of wack. Just my speculation and hopes for the story lol…
Are you Jewish? Because if not, I’d say it really isn’t your call. And genocide is never acceptable.
Shameful and immoral doesn’t automatically mean evil. How is it moral to stay with someone you don’t love anymore? How is it moral to stay with someone that doesn’t love you? Why is it immoral to move on to another guild when the guild you’re currently in can’t improve your game any more? And murder doesn’t simply stop becoming murder just because you feel miserable and not really alive.
Anyone who forgave Illidan should know that there’s always a chance that you’ll need to forgive Sylvanas.
Mark MY words:
Sylvanas is NOT Garrosh 2.0
Sylvanas is Illidan 2.0
Anti-semitic threats, lovely. Enjoy your forum vacation.
I agree. There’s nothing complex about Sylvanas and what she’s done and any attempt by Blizz to make it so is just pseudo intellectual BS.
That sort of thing is way above and beyond the scope of the people at Blizz. It also ignores much of what we’ve known about spirits in game. We’ve had numerous quests where we’ve spoken to spirits and put them to rest. You have the Highmountain who for a long time wouldn’t even remove the claws from the animals they killed so that the animals had the ability to protect themselves in the afterlife. Interesting tidbit I learned doing skinning in Legion. Are we now saying that all the classes that specialize with communing with the spirits are totally blind to what’s been going on? And all of this hinges on Sylvanas being the one and only person who really knows what’s going on and that to me is just awful writing.
Ultimately whether you like the story is a personal one. I’m no fan to the point I stopped playing when BfA came out. The trailer alone turned me off because it seemed incredibly out of line to have a faction conflict right after our characters were essentially neutral and we knew the world was dying. You can see how this would make the Horde look really stupid attacking Dark Shore.
