- Nathanos is a self insert
and
- tyrande doesn’t know anything of an afterlife so she doesn’t know that his soul needs to be destroyed (also probably doesn’t have the ability to)

The reason for it might be pretty obvious: He’d make a reasonable raidboss in the sylvanas raid.
This would be, in my opinion, th eonly reason to come back. Maybe even in some ind of a tortured form.
I mean there seem to be a difference wether or not you step as a mortal into the Shadowlands or if you die and do so. The dying way means it is a one way ticket, no matter what.
So while he might be back in the shadowlands to cringe some more, he will deffinately be imprisoned there at the end.
I love how everyone here thinks Steve can protect any character when the smart people know that ion can walk into the writing room at any time and say Sylvanas is a raid boss and has to die and the writers have to scrap everything they planned
We been told multiple times that story points have changed cause ion and some of the non writers heads wanted something more cool

Even if Ion said that Sylvanas should be a mary sue that can never lose or be defeated, it doesn’t change anything. Sylvanas redemption incoming as they told is through interviews.
Also, according to you the same person must have said that Teldrassil should burn down, the Night Elves’ zones should go to the Horde and their revenge should be killing 1 Val’kyr.

Darkshore, Azshara, Ashenvale and Teldrassil was destroyed by the Horde.
They had even planned to give the ENTIRETY of Kalimdor to the Horde, like who comes up with that? That would’ve brought down the Night Elf zones to 0, but atleast they gave Darkshore back by coincidence in a blizzcon interview.
Nothing matters anyway when our lesson in SL will be that genocide is heroic and Sylvanas will be the face of wow forever

Much as I would have loved that, that was only ever Saurfang and Sylvanas’ plan, and Sylvanas was lying about it.
But those are the characters’ plans. There’s no evidence the writers ever had any intention of them succeeding.

There are far more people with exactly this mindset. I can’t blame them. I have been through this aswell and I am still not completely.
If anything, Darana is really greiving and is hurt on a very deep level, because she was or is extremely invested in the story and it means a lot to her.
So just leave her be, it’s ok. It helps to cope with the situation.

Yes, but it was a ruse by Sylvanas. They never intended for it to succeed. I doubt the writers changed their mind mid expansion.

I think they changed a lot of things mid expansion. The Burning of Teldrassil wasn’t planned from the very beginning either, and a barrens and silvermoon warfront was probably planned too.
I think they changed the course after the massive hate they got for their garbage tier writing, changed it to Sylvanas working for some kind of greater good and redeeming her, cutting off the faction war quickly etc…
This is actually wrong.
Metzen stated that he worked at the BFA intro in 2016 and thus knew the story, even helped developing it, yet he said he was completely surpirsed by the burning of teldrassil.
But that implies that it wasn’t planned from the very beginning?
