I’m lost to the reason why there is such long cooldown on toys. Like I just bought the 10$ toy off the blizzard store and there is a 1hr cooldown on it. Seems a little ridiculous considering that it cost 10$, the buff last for 15mins. Like why doesn’t the cooldown match the buff so you can keep up your favorite little things that transform you. It isn’t like this is a huge part of the game, but its just odd that the fun things like this seem to have the fun sucked out of them because of weird cooldowns.
Cause fun detected. Fun removed.
Edit: Beat ya!
Fun detected, fun removed. It used to be a meme. Now it’s a design philosophy.
Was going to say the same!
It would be nice for an official response.
We could say the same thing about holiday transmogs.
I can understand why on some toys, though. I’d hate the whistle toy to be on a non-stop cooldown, or the one that makes you dance or train choo choo.
But yeah, I agree. So many other toys that aren’t troll-ish are on too long of CDs.
I can 100% guarantee it would start with…“we thought”
Just because it cant be said enough:
“Fun was detected, fun was removed”
Just as not having the good portals makes the world “seem larger!”, long cooldowns on toys makes them “more fun!”
It is some weird Blizzard logic.
probably a leftover disciplinary tactic from when we had to share time on the seesaws and swingsets out in the playground
well although i would love to get on the fun detected and removed train, the COMMON SENSE answer says that if 1000’s of players were CONSTANTLY activating toys, the servers would crash constantly from all the rendering
we will never get a response from blizz as always, but im pretty sure thats why
I love the long CD on the troll toys but would love them to lower it on some of the others.
I think having a limit on how many toys you can have out at nice might be a nice compromise.
Only reason I ever put out a billion is to bother my friends, after all…
It’s just one hour. That’s not long at all.
Especially considering the buff persists through:
-Mounting
-Combat
-Zoning
-Logging
-Death
Probably to make the toys special and thus more enjoyable overall.
Otherwise you’d have people spamming them and it’d get lame and/or irritating.
Doubt we’ll ever know.
Toys can be fun when they don’t have long cool downs. But Blizzards adds long cool downs despite this and doesn’t say why.
So obviously all we can really say is, fun detected, fun removed.
I could imagine it goes right back to old toys back in the day, The piccolo? That made you dance.
People constantly used it, Its like every person who got one needed to run to the biggest crowd they could find.
It become a constant annoyance, so they probably do not want that to happen again.
The more they effect the world, the more of a issue it could be Fun toys, until it was the 30th time its used next to you that hour.
more personal toys should have much looser restrictions.
Same as others are posting OP. Fun detected fun removed. Dev design policy. Just like the pre-legion expac invasions. In BFA the incursions are the new invasions. XP cut down 60%. Not alt friendly imo. Wasted effort. SOOL
Literally toys are for fun irl and game so its textbook.
Fun detected fun removed.
