Why is there no healer balance in Random BGs?

It just seems like it would make sense to balance the number of healers that are on each team. I've heard there is a system in place but people queue as healer and then run other specs instead.

If that's the case, when someone queues and gets pulled into the BG because they queued healer, spec lock them into only healing specs so they're forced to do the job they signed up for.

And to prevent healer stacking by having people that intend to heal queue as dps/tank then spec lock them out of healer specs.

I just don't understand why this hasn't been done yet. It's not impossible to win without a healer when the other team has healers but it's definitely a lot harder than if the scales were balanced.

Problems arise I think when people que for both, because they are usually sent in as dps even if the team has no heals.

It's been almost 4 years since that post. You'd think they'd be able to efficiently implement the system by now. Makes it seem like PvP isn't getting the attention they intended to give it.

The system worked then and the system works 4 years later for the most part. The system isn't the main problem it's things like: not a lot of people qing as heals, people qing and not accepting it when it pops, and people double qing as heal/dps and being thrown into as DPS (which i agree with you here: 4 years is a long time to not fix a simple problem like that),

EDIT: I feel like I need to add that I've been in quite a few games where a healer joins, see's that they're the only one healer even though only 5 people have loaded into the game so far, and says "GL guys" before they leave. Only to have another healer load up seconds after.

Problem is you can't make people queue as healers. This is always the problem. I used to queue as a healer regardless but now its just to much of a pain.

Why would people want to queue as healers when they're blamed for everything and it's generally an unfun experience? Might as well go DPS. Same queue times and there's no incentives to go heals.

I've had bgs where I queued as healer/dps and got put in as dps, and it's because my team already had enough healers.

When healers are really imbalanced (2+ difference), I think it's probably because there's an overall healer imbalance in the bg queue at the current moment. Or it's because some healers missed their bg queue pops or they deserted for whatever reason.

I wouldn't be surprised if the system places less priority on "balance the healers" when it goes into "replace the empty spots" mode.

Only Blizzard can see if healer imbalance (2+ difference) is a frequent problem in random bgs. Players aren't going to come to the bg forum to make new threads saying they queued for random bgs and the healer numbers were pretty even (0 or 1 difference).

This right here. Used to love healing bg's on multiple healer classes. This expansion has killed healer fun for me, would rather not even bother.

I don't know how to do anything else so all I do is heal random bgs, and lfr...

those that queue as heals/dps just don't understand the system, you are basically shrugging your shoulders in indecision and instantly you are assigned one or the other, it has nothing to do with what the group wants or needs. when you do it in pve lfg and it picks dps you'll wait forever like other dps, if it picks heals you're in fast. people had similar issues with mission % in wod, they assumed 200% success on half and 0% success on the other half gave them 100% success....and got upset when they failed. the system is fine really, i for one don't want to wait until x number of healers sign up for each faction while i wait in a dps/tank queue polishing the silverware.

Let me present the other side of the conversations. I log in my mage....q time says 7 minutes, usually pops around 5. I log in my shammy (healer), q time says 7 minutes, usually pops around 15 minutes.

All the !@#$%ing about healer balance has caused me to not play my healer because I am sick of paying the "healer tax" as it relates to q times.

Just finished an EotS…2 healers vs EIGHT. Yes, that’s right, you read that correctly…EIGHT (8) healers on a single team in a 15 vs 15 battleground.
