Given how much this games leans on D&D for inspiration (e.g., monk class and abilities), bard would make a lot of sense. The bard class was a GREAT addition to the AD&D system back in the day, but poorly executed at first. D&D 3.0 and 3.5 got it the best, imo, but I feel like bard is still waiting to “have its day” in many ways.
Bard could be a third mail-wearing class, so there’s that.
Three specs: Spellsword = melee dps class, Songsmith = ranged dps, Lifesinger = healer
I think the concept has merit!
they’re not mentioned anywhere, when in the other games they are.

No it isn’t, everyone that plays D and D games likes the bard class.
Because WoW doesn’t need one? and the Lore isn’t really there from what i can tell for such a thing to even exist to be worth implementing?
Give me a Bard Please, Many people would love it! At my MMO core I am a utility player. I like doing everything and nothing very well. I’ve never wanted to be top dps or a hulking meatsheild or nothing but heals. In 2006 I picked a Shaman to play because I liked the utility they brought to a dungeon crawl.
WoW has changed alot from those days. Even if support classes are extinct here a Bard could still have a flavored healing role, or a shock & melee dps role. Give me Charm Humanoids and Battle Chants . We’d be a cross between Survival Hunters, Enhancement Shaman and Paladins in Mail Armor. As said in this thread by Bard supporters there is so many different ways to make them interesting and flavorful and is a proven class in MMO history. For those needing specific lore I just killed some Naga Sirens earlier this week. I’m sure bard lore can be written in. Even if Bards are a Hero Class with 2 specs it sure would make a lot of players happy😁
At this point, I’m so bored with every class in WoW they could add literally anything to the game, and I’d play it. Bonus points if it wore cloth and was ranged, but everyone knows Blizzard only knows how to make melee, so thats a complete pipe dream.
There’s no bard because the infertility and slow extinction of dragons is a plot point, which the world’s bards would challenge.
“real game” you mean the one niche title with only 4k players worldwide daily known as ff14?
that class is also compleatly hated and horrible and onlygood because you can play music and even then its horrible without the (against the rules) add on that auoplays songs for you
in this game, bard wouldnt really fit unless they added it as like a fun thing to play music which would just be super weird. go back to ff14
we will more than likely be getting a new class late in shadowlands or in the expansion after if they follow thier previous examples
I could only really see bards as a Rogue healing spec, can’t think of any DPS roles they could fill without stepping on the toes of another class.

I might get bard, but an evoker and being a dragon will do for now.
